Book Reviews of The Art of Seduction

Book Review: NOT JUST ABOUT GETTING LAID
Summary: 5 Stars

This book talks about what motivates people and how to exploit it to get them to do things...yes, the book infers sex, but it also includes getting you to buy things, to accept certain beliefs...in general, to be sold.

Some people would find this repulsive, but like the 48 Laws of Power, this book focuses on explaining power...it is up to the person to use it for good or evil.

Personally I view it like martial arts. A martial art class teaches the power of a particular fighting style SO you can defend yourself better. Ditto for learning about the power to motivate people to do things. This knowledge can be used to defend oneself from the CONSTANT barrage of sales pitches we endure every day.

Though detailed explanation, prose, and examples, Greene explained sales approaches, victim theory, and executing the sale. From it I more thoroughly discovered the weaknesses I had that allow people to push my buttons. Usually it is a combination of victim types. Now, I am better prepared to (a) address those weaknesses and (b) prevent others (and myself) from seducing or selling me into doing things I shouldn't. Not to mention, I am more able to motivate others to do the right thing.

I certainly don't want to oversell the book, but I think reading it will cause a real solid step toward becoming self-actualized.

Book Review: Read it and see how it applies
Summary: 5 Stars

This book has been one of the most eye opening and thought provoking books I've read. I like to think, and I love taking in the words and thoughts of an author and having a 'conversation' with them. I had to read this book more than once to fully get it and see its genius. I've since read it a few times. I loved the anecdotes from history used to explain the points. I loved seeing how many times I've been accidentally using a seductive tactic (if you've ever wondered why people fall for you, this book might help illuminate what you're subconsciously doing right) and why it worked. I loved connecting the dots--linking the points to my life and seeing the patterns in relationships I've been in and those of my friends and family. Most people are somewhat predictable, and this book helps to explain basic psychology. It helps me to be a better friend and give better advice, to explain the actions of others to my friends who are frustrated and confused by their relationships. It cuts through to the core of relationships and can be very illuminating if consumed and applied to your life. At the very least it brings history to life, at the very most it can illuminate the power of relationships, unleash your personal effectiveness, and help you to be a more understanding, thoughtful, and charming person. Seriously.

Book Review: For the More Evolved Lover...
Summary: 5 Stars

A Masterpiece. Not a neatly-bulleted, big print "how to" book for your less intelligent consumer; it is an extremely in-depth treatise on the art of seduction. And do not be fooled, it IS an art.

Some may question the ethics or morality involved -- if you are one of them, why even read a book entitled "The Art of Seduction"? For those who know that all's fair in love and war, these Machiavellian-like principles work and have stood the test of time, however distasteful and painful it may be to admit.

Be warned however, guys looking to "pick up chicks" probably won't be able to grasp the subtlety required here.

These principles are not limited to one's romantic goals and endeavors, but can be used to improve self-awareness and confidence in all social situations as well. Read the chapter on "The Anti Seducer" not only to improve your love life, but to improve your basic social skills as well. Think you've got that down? Think again. Most people have at least one of the anti-seducer traits.

If you are like me, and love reading anything to do with human psychology, you should find this book intriguing at the very least. Love it or hate it, it beautifully illustrates the power of seduction, and how to attain the mind-set and skills to wield it.

Book Review: This is one of the must-reads on relationships
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read this book 5 times and on my way of doing the 6th. Well written and very profound on relationships. Many have accused this book of being manipulative etc.; however, it is not the intention or the moral imperatives that we are talking about. A great book like this is to disclose facts of our life. How to deal with these facts is something up to each individual. If you are not a strong-minded person and you rather bury your head in the sand, then you don't need this book.

What this book tells us is that in this world, there are manipulative people. In fact, many of seducers are doing these manipulations subconsciously - they don't even know why and how they are doing, but they are doing it.

My take on this is that I want to know why and how people are doing certain things; I want to learn the tricks; I want to be good at this game myself and come out winning. I am not going to bury my head and pretend the world and the people are nice and dandy - the fact is the world is cruel and people are manipulative.

One thing the author failed to mention is that few seducers have happy endings. A pure seduction most time only works in short term - while novelty still lasts. If your intention is to learn things to find your Mr./Mrs. Right, seduction alone will not lead to him/her.

Book Review: Absolutely Brilliant! A must for any seducer!
Summary: 5 Stars

Or anyone interesting in social/sexual psychology. I found this book to be enlightening, profound and extremely useful. I've been a seductress since I was a child, but not until this book have I realized exactly what Ive been doing. Robert Greene pointed out the steps in behavior and motivation behind them throughout relationships and seductions ive had (and those ive shared the book with have had revelations too) in the past, giving me focus to utilize these tools in the future.

Since reading this book ive begun a transformation, a metamorphosis. It was that inspiring.
Yes, there are times when it can be bluntly psychological and realistic (but i love Greene for that! no sugar-coating!) but it also gets at the heart of what we've come to know as romance, and those greatest of loves throughout history.

The cold, calculating manner may get to some people, but really, I dont think those people want to seduce. They want to fall in love. Love is really quite a different idea than what Greene writes about, which is more of an erotic, vain, narcissistic game.

The only problem with this book is that it left me wanting more.. and I've come to find there are no other books that compare!
