Book Reviews of The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen

Book Review: Easily the Best Memoir I've Read this Year
Summary: 5 Stars

The skills that make an awesome chef are the same skills that make an awesome writer, patience, a loving devotion to detail, an appreciation of the sensual - this has it all. It's a great slice of history and does what a great memoir is supposed to do - it allows you to enter the world of another.

Jacques Pepin's book, "The Apprentice : My Life in the Kitchen", is a light and compelling, can't put it down read.

Book Review: An Inspiration to Cooks and a Great Companion Piece to the United States of Arugula
Summary: 5 Stars

What a lovely book -- elegant, flavorful, delightful! My compliments to the chef. Jacques Pepin accomplishes much with a few key ingredients. I aspire to do the same with my review. As I read the book, I couldn't help thinking that I was reading first-hand source material for the book, The United States of Arugula, a fascinating, if breezy, history of food tastes in the U.S.

Book Review: A Wonderful Biography
Summary: 5 Stars

I became enamored with Mr. Pepin's PBS show because he has a unique way of conveying his love of all kinds of food and he makes the preparation look doable by average folk such as myself. I have always loved biographies so when this came out, I rushed to read it and could not put it down. What a wonderful book for Pepin fans and foodies alike. Don't hesitate to get this book!

Book Review: I Didn't Want to Put It Down!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love Jacque Pepin's sense of humor. It was so enjoyable to read that at the end of the book I thought I wanted more and asked, "that's it?" I give him more respect than ever after reading his life experiences and his principles in cooking and in life. He is a classic, Jacque Pepin. I miss him and Julia Child on TV (although I got their dvds).

Book Review: Interesting & well written
Summary: 5 Stars

I Liked this so well I bought it as a gift for a friend. It is a good story, very interesting, and anyone would like it, especially someone who likes good for and likes to cook, but that is not necessary to enjoy it.
