Book Review: very good for learning 2nd position on violin

this ABCs of Violin bk 4 is helpful for all of my students who have advanced through 3rd position and are ready to tackle 2nd position. Simple familiar melodies and exercises covering all 4 strings in a logical sequence my students understand readily and enjoy practicing. It's the best way to begin students in 2nd position before moving on to more complex material such as the Whistler books.

This ABCs of Violin Book 4 is the perfect instruction book for the More Advanced student of any age on the Violin! Enjoy learning 2nd position for the very first time with easy and familiar melodies like "Oh, Susanna" and "Up on the House Top." "A Paris," "L'enfant" and "Kerry Dance" are fun to play. Many warm-up and shifting exercises make your knowledge of 2nd position thorough!
More advanced pieces in 1st and 3rd position are "Fiddle Study" and "Heifetz Study." They are recital favorites along with Tchaikovsky's "Marche Slav," and Stephen Foster's "Old Kentucky Home" and "Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair" which incorporate 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions.
Learn to play harmonics and pizzicato a chord! A note-reading worksheet and practice planner are also included along with many graphs to show left-hand finger placement for 2nd position.
