Book Review: The 4 day diet

This book is hard core. I am a healthy eater in the first place so I was used to the meals Dr. Smith was advising you to eat. If you are looking for an extreme drop in caloric intake this is a good way to go. You can basically say good bye to any normal meal you are use to having. Unfortunately most people are over weight because their normal meals are way more than their body requires for the amount of calories they burn. The point of this book is that your only on the diet for 4 days so it is easy to get through the meals for a short period of time. The problem is the next four days are still mostly raw and cooked veggies and unless you like that sort of thing it may be hard to stick to. I recommend this product because it will make you loose weight if you can stick to it.

I would recommend this book for those who need a jump start into their weight loss. The 4 Day Diet is not hard to follow and actually once you have your mind trained into knowing that you are able to switch it up every four days, it doesn't seem that hard. The only hard part is explaining to people that you are NOT on some 4 day fad diet...when they see the title, that is what they think. I am finishing up the last day of the transition module today and weighed myself this morning, I am down eight lbs. I am very excited about what my future holds and just know that this will be a book that I can go back to whenever I need a little boost during those moments of weakness. So far so good. Good job on this one Dr. Ian!!!!

LOVE this book!! I knew I wanted this book when I saw him on Rachel Ray- talking about this diet...I never do diets..but wanted to cleanse my body....the 1st 4 Day Diet is a Cleansing Diet.....you are allowed plenty of food each day...actually I never could eat all the food allowed for each day......after the cleansing there are other diets to choose from if you choose to continue....I am now on the 4 Day Diet after the 4 Day Cleansing Diet & really feel good about my food choices.....there is plenty of food offered for each day... have been eating very healthy- fruits & veggies....really an easy diet to follow & to incoorporate into my life- after my 4 Day Diets...
Excellent Book!!!!!! very pleased I got it!!!

I like this book because it deals with the mental road blocks every person deals with when fighting weight. I respect the fact that he suggests waiting 10 days before tackling the food program so the dieter can mentally prepare by setting goals, creating solutions to temptations and performing exercises in order to think in a more positive way about themselves. Many reviewers have blasted the book for limited food menus and stringent exercise plans. Uh, this is a diet book, not a book about what people like to do while on vacation. If one wants to commit to hard work, would like to see impressive results and enjoys having an exact program already outlined, this is a fantastic book.

Book Review: Losing weight slowly and steadily
Summary: 5 Stars

This has been a great book to read, contemplate and then use as a diet plan. I am not following the diet exactly because there are some items I cannot eat, but weighing every 7 days I lose 2 lbs on the average (and that is just adding walking 5000+ steps per day). I am not hungry at all, but food measurement is a very important factor with this diet plan (and should be with every diet plan). It is something I can use the rest of my life. I recommend this to people who like change (every 4 days) and honestly I am more comfortable with this diet plan than I was with Weight Watchers.
