Book Review: Phenomenal Book
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read all of Dr. Smith's books and they have helped me lose a cumulative 67 pounds. I have watched him on TV for years, first on NBC News the TODAY Show and most recently on Celebrity Fit Club. He is honest, no-nonsense and very positive about losing weight. I decided to try his books because I like his attitude and honesty about weight loss. I saw this book the 4 Day Diet in the store and bought it right away. It's amazing! It really is like having 2 books in one as he says. It has everything you need to know about finding your own motivation, staying motivated, setting realistic goals and other psychological tips. The diet program is so easy to follow. Just like his other books. I've already stacked my fridge for January 5th when I will officially begin the 4 Day Diet. I have looked at hundreds of diet books over the years as I've struggled to lose weight and I must say this is the most complete book I've ever read. I'm going to buy 3 more copies for my children, because this healthy style of dieting is great for everyone. Dr. Smith, thanks for taking the time to write a book that makes sense, is easy to follow, and has tons of great recipes, one which I had last night and my family loved it!!! You're the best!!!

Book Review: Sensible Plan with Steady Results!

I started the 4 Day Diet on June 1, 2009 [in conjunction with Slim in 6 - also bought from amazon.com], and in 3 weeks lost 10 pounds. I know this may not sound like much to some, but for me it's a miracle. I have P.C.O.S., a hormonal problem which makes it difficult to lose any weight, let alone this fast and healthy. I had tried other 'diets' and plans to no avail. With this I was able to get the mindset and food together before starting and have not fallen off the wagon (even with people eating around me), or felt hungry! I love this way of eating and plan to keep doing it (Modules 1 - 7),all the way to my goal weight. After which I plan to do the 80/20 plan, which is only indulging 20% of the time. My fat spots are reducing and I am eating healthier than I ever have. This plan works because it details exactly what you should eat for the day and you can distribute it throughout the day as you see fit, so you're not hungry. Works for me and will until I reach goal. I also know that this is a tool I can use if at any time I need to 'spruce up' the old bod' if I should gain 5 lbs. and not let it get to 50 lbs. Love you Dr. Ian Smith! Thank you for such a sensible, straight forward plan.

Book Review: Good but not so easy...requires dedication and creativity

I enjoyed reading this book. I love the concept. It's an easy read. He does especially well with addressing the mental part of weight loss.

At first glance I thought the 7 plans would be easy to follow b/c I like healthy food and after two weeks you get good stuff like pizza or 4 bbq buffalo wings on occasion. However, after the first week or two, I was very tired of beans, rice and salads and felt very deprived.

I followed this plan with someone else and they had a difficult time too with deprivation and lack of variety. It's a lot of the same things over and over. You have to be very creative at making meals that will work with the ingredients allowed for the day.

I was pleased with the weight loss the first two weeks (4 lbs) especially since I couldn't exercise but I was so miserable on the plan that I didn't think it was worth it. Enjoyed reading the book though.

If you're very disciplined and don't mind eating a lot of salads with beans and the same things over and over - go for it and Best wishes.

Book Review: I am convinced!

Well, I am a skeptic when it comes to dieting etc. I thought all I had to do was workout and not worry about what I put into my body. This was o.k. before I had to take medication for a while. However, after being on meds, it was hard to take the weight back off. I would go from 196 to 200 depending on my workout, but I could never get below that number. Upon returning from a Miami getaway with hubby, I received a copy of the book. In 26 days, I have lost 13 lbs. This is phenomenal. I plan to keep going. I am going to repeat some of the other modules. The recipes are easy to follow. I have never had sea bass in all of my life. I bought some and tried the recipe and it is so delicious. I am a pescetarian so this was right up my alley-steamed fish. The first 4 days are tuff, but once you get past them it's not bad. I have cheated some, but I am still loosing weight. I do not think that this is a gimmick. This could be someone like myself who has had enough of the diet drama and is happy to share her good fortune with whomever will listen.

Book Review: So far so GREAT!

I've tried a ridiculous number of diets. Read a ton of books. Saw this on The View and after reading some reviews decided to pick it up.

Easy to read. Very logical. I don't find it difficult at all to follow the diet. Anyone can follow any plan for 4 days so you just have to take it 4 days at a time. I have just only started the diet so I can't say how well it work when completed...but I can tell you that I'm on day 3, have not exercised AT ALL and I'm down 3 pounds. THREE POUNDS and it's only 3 days. Yes, I'm sure it's water weight, but I'm eating very healthy (detoxing my body), I'm sleeping SOOOO much better and I'm have more energy than I've had in a long time.

So I'm very happy with this diet so far and right now I'm doing the hardest part! So I have to imagine the rest will be a breeze since it's not nearly as strict. I'll write another review when I finish my first 28 days, as I plan to do this again and again until I reach my goal.
