Book Reviews of The 4 Day DietBook Review: Great Detox plan Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this book several months ago and took my time reading it. I was elated when I got to the back and finally was able to start the plan. The detox diet was very strict but I had been looking for a detox plan that was healthy and doctor approved. It was hard and I was hungry some of the time, but I followed it pretty much to the T, exercise and all, and lost 3 pounds the first day, 5 pounds after 5 days and 7 pounds after 6 days. I'm on day 6 now, 2 days into the transition model. I made a mistake yesterday and ate a cup of brown rice thinking it was on the plan, it's not (in the second phase). Overall I'm very happy with the results. It is hard to stick with and I do get a little hungry at times but my skin has cleared up so much and I feel so much less bloated. The psyllium husk helps with digestion, it doesn't taste great but I have been able to take it with a glass of water no problem, it really helps you to feel full and I'll probably do it this evening because I'll be hungry after work. This book definitely is a diet, it has several days of very healthy eating spelled out very clearly for you, and at the end you should be able to make healthy food choices. It really made me aware of my attitude towards food and what I think it should be. I've noticed how food is adverised non-stop on television, which has made me re-think food, cravings, impulse eating and nutrition. Even after the 7 pound loss I'm still very overweight, and that is what is keeping me on this diet. Soon I'll be able to have pizza, french fries and burgers (they are allowed in the plan) of course in moderation. The book is worth the money if you are willing to stick with healthy eating (a lot of fruits, vegetables and beans).
Book Review: The Real Deal!! Summary: 5 Stars
I've struggled with my weight all of my life and I've read so many books it's ridiculous. But I decided to pick up the 4 Day Diet because my friend lost so much weight on Dr. Smith's last book, The Fat Smash Diet. I wasn't sure if this plan would work for me, but the minute I opened up the book I fell in love with it. This is a book that is honest and doesn't sugarcoat things. It talks about both the mind as well as the body. A lot of diet books never talk about the cause of overeating. This book really help me see some things I've been doing wrong. The book is broken up into sections that are easy to read. The food is realistic and the 4-day modules are easy to follow and make complete sense. The theory behind the 4 day modules is that you keep alternating your food so that you don't get bored with eating the same thing all the time. I admit that this has been a big problem for me in the past. Now that I see the variety and flexibility in this program, I know it will work for me.
This book is so easy to read and the recipes are so easy to fix. They also taste great. When I read through them, I couldn't believe they were in a diet book since they were so tasty sounding. That's the key with this book--you don't feel like you're eating diet food.
I have read so many diet books I should write one myself. But this seems to be the best book I've read in a LONG time. Dr. Smith is honest, accessible, and sensible. He also is teaching the right things--long term health and not some quick fix gimmick. If you're serious about losing weight and keeping it off, then this book is for you!!!
Book Review: Satisfied so far.... Summary: 5 Stars
I have tried every diet known to man and this one I think I will stick with. After being at my heaviest weight, I decided I needed to do something. I bought the Fat Smash Diet and only read it. I heard about this book on the TJMS and said, "I think I can handle 4 days". I purchased the book determined to stick with it and I have so far. This is very mental. If you say you can't, you won't!There are a lot of things I do not eat in his diet but I tried them anyway. The 1st day I was hungry and it was all in my mind. I felt I needed meat in order to be full, but he has proven me wrong. I am on Day 5 and in Transition to the next 4 days and I have already lost 4 lbs with just eating fruits & veggies and one grilled chicken breast. The cabbage soup is actually tasty and I was excited to get some substance and potatoes. I have more energy now and I am fired up to continue with this diet. The diet changes every 4 days and introduces new food items. This is a life changing diet not a fad diet. It helps you to maintain. I have co-workers that are on the 4 day as well and they have lost 9 (in 2 wks) & 15lbs (in 3 weeks) on this diet. It is great and I would highly recommend the book. I would recommend you purchase the psyllium husk when you purchase the book - this is similar to Metamucil. It is part of the cleansing process and it works well! It also helps to lower your cholesterol! It's not the most tasty thing in the world but I would mix it with lemonade. It's worth it and a life-changing experience for your health!
Book Review: Another Great And Easy Diet Summary: 5 Stars
I like Dr. Ian's diets. I lost 17 pounds on Extreme Fat Smash and have kept it off. I lost 4 pounds on Induction and will weigh myself again once I am done with all phases. This one has more variety and more food so you will be able to stick with most parts of it once the weight is lost. Someone commented that the diet is not 4 days as if Dr. Ian meant to decieve you. There is no deception here and you should never follow a diet that promises you will lose all the weight you want in only 4 days. The diet is broken up in 4 day modules because calorie fluctuation keeps your metabolism from stalling. It also helps psychologically because it is 4 days at a time rather than thinking about 6-8 weeks at a time. Another reviewer complained that the book doesn't tell you what to eat - false, false, false. These are not sample menus, Dr. Ian tells you exactly what to eat each and every single day and the exact amount. I type up the menu for each module and post it on my fridge and pull them down as each day is completed. You don't have to use the recipes in his book and he doesn't say which recipe matches which module because they apply to ALL phases. Also I would advise that you read the entire book as it will help you stick to the diet and be able to maintain the weight afterwards. All that information is not fluff. I think that's one of the main reasons people don't do well on diets - they never read the information the author provides and just skip straight to the diet and then wonder why it didn't work.
Book Review: It's Worth the Money!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this book because I lost over 50 pounds on Dr. Smith's last book, the Fat Smash Diet. That book was so easy to follow and all of my girlfriends lost weight too. I still have about 25 pounds to go and I thought I would try something different for the New Year. I ran across the 4 Day Diet because another girlfriend bought it for her mother. I was not disappointed. This book is so easy. It also is friendly for families and vegetarians. You can make substitutions if you don't eat certain foods and you can switch up the order of the modules any way you want. The modules are part of the eating plan. The diet is broken down into 4-day modules. You change your cuisine every 4 days. The book calls this "modular eating." I've never heard of this before, but as I read more about it and what it does to help people lose weight, it made complete sense. I also like the snacks and recipes in the back of the book. I would buy the book just for them, because they give you great food that's healthy and tastes great and is easy to make. I watched Dr. Smith help celebrities on his show Celebrity Fit Club lose a lot of weight, especially Maureen McCormick who played Marcia on the Brady Bunch. Dr. Smith really turned her life around. He's done the same for me and I know the 4 Day Diet will help me get rid of these last 25 pounds.
