I bought this book on a whim for my two little boys, and I am so glad that I did. It is a modern compilation of children's literature favorites, including works by children's literary giants Maurice Sendak and Margaret Wise Brown. And it includes the Sneetches by Dr. Seuss, which is, in my opinion, his best children's book. It also includes educational reads like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. It is a thoughtful compilation that includes stories for all ages. I found myself thumbing through and finding stories that I haven't heard since I was a child. For this reason, the book is such a nostalgic joy to read. It also introduced me to great stories, such as the Stinky Cheese Man -- a satirical spin on the little Gingerbread Man. I truly look forward to storytime each night now, as do my kids, especially my 5 year old. Thank you Janet Schulman for putting all of these wonderful stories together under one cover. An exceptional resource for parents with which they may share some of the finest children's books ever written with their kids and for kids to be able to share with their parents as they learn how to read. Hard to believe that the authors and illustrators of these classics allowed their fine work to be included in a book such as this. We received this book as a baby gift for our now-10-year old son, and it has been a bedtime story basic ever since. It comes with us on vacation! All our children enjoy it, and love to find their favorite stories. If you're looking for an excellent way to start off a child's library, this is the book for you.Book Review: great purchase

Its a great book. Many good stories and in one hard cover book that your child can keep forever. I bought it for my daughter's third birthday and she loves it.
