Book Reviews of The 168 Hour Week: Living Life Your Way 24-7Book Review: Time Management Book to Get the LIFE You Want, and Chuck Your Worthless Datebook System Summary: 5 Stars
First, just so you know, since I'm writing this review weeks before the book is available to the public, yes, I got an advance copy of Dr. Hogan's book. I actually READ it. This is not just hypy writing. It's concrete.
Part of what I really love about Dr. Hogan's writing style, which I first encountered in his internationally best selling book, The Psychology of Persuasion: How to Persuade Others to Your Way of Thinking is he combined super intelligent scientific research with concrete action steps and workbook exercises so you can actually implement all he suggest in your normal life. I mean, don't you just love that? Who needs yet another Time Mgt system which is beautiful and pretty and yet you abandon after 3 months like last years New Years Resolutions?
Hogan addresses from the very start, "Whose life are you living, anyway?" What do you, not everyone else, YOU, want in your life. And asking and framing that question in concrete life realities. Not living in a penthouse and abandoning your family and children, but a life that includes diaper changing, a poor economy, disability, divorce rates, PTA, little league, cleaning the toilet, home based businesses, the real stuff of actual life - everything. The stuff that life is really made of. Not just sand, rocks, and a jar.
Richard Brodie of Microsoft fame has been quoted as saying of Hogan, "'You know, you ARE the most productive person I've ever met.'"
Mark Joyner, yes, that is internationally famous and best selling author, Mark Joyner, cites Hogan as, "one of the most accomplished men alive in the field of human psychology," as well as, "one of the greatest minds alive," while keeping the book "easy and accessible." Indeed, here is a book that "brings out the greatness in you that been waiting there all along." And who isn't craving, desiring, and secretly yearning in their heart of hearts as they punch in and out of the clock to live THAT kind of a life?
Just a sampling of What You Will GET from this book:
You will learn that if you can "be real" about the life you dream of and desire, you can have it.
Debunks "modeling" yourself after super successful people and provides the solution for what does actually work.
The encouraging news that no matter at what stage of life you are, you can pick yourself up from there and move toward the life of greatness YOU want (not what mom wanted, not what dad wanted, not what... well, you get it)
Chapter One: How reality is your friend and several of the OH so true Pay Check to Pay Check living horrific problems
Chapter Two: Finding Your Self in TIME, frankly folks, before it's too late. I've been widowed. I know when it is too late!
Hallmark Hoganisms: concrete interactive exercises throughout so you don't "just read" and never implement or get the benefits of this book.
You are not going to BELIEVE how he starts Chapter Three, it's so real, and when no one is looking, is what we would ALL include in our lists of Time Management essentials when no one is looking.
Clears up Procrastination without making you feel bad that you've been perfecting it like the rest of us.
Chapter Six: Why to be successful in life you probably need a coach, and how to do that... successfully, even when you can't afford one of the greats like Hogan right away. Plus 5 Stupid Things Pee Do That Lead to Failure (like most of us).
What Noillim IS, why everyone wants it, why 92% aren't getting Noillim, and actually how to GET Noillim yourself.
In Chapter 7 Hogan reveals a $100,000.00 Secret. Isn't that more than your worth the investment of purchasing, reading, and implementing what is in this book?
Also in Chapter 7 Hogan reveals The Real Secret... the one that works!
As you read through Dr. Hogan's seminal book, read it, and do the exercises, you will start to experience the utter fulfillment joy of starting to define and live the Life YOU Want. And isn't that the life we are all yearning to live?
All provided in quintessential (aka typical, sorry, I went to Smith, I had to use the 50 cent word) Hogan pulling no punches, no BS, no political correctness, while still genuinely warm and caring style.
