Anyone who is a fan of Tasha Tudor, or who may not have known of Tasha but who loves gardening, should find this book warm and inspiring. The author writes in a captivating manner that holds one's interest for long periods of time and describes not only Tasha's gardens but Tasha herself in a way that made us eager for more. It's fun to read about Tasha's eccentricities and her whimsical way of life. I actually read the entire book, cover to cover, aloud to my husband during a nine hour drive to Florida and he was just as interested in each chapter and the photographs as I.
And speaking of the photographs, the book is packed with them and they are literally breathtaking! I find myself making mental notes of combinations of plantings that I want to use in my own gardens. When I arrived home from work and found that the book had arrived in the mail, I immediately took it out to the hammock where my husband was waiting for me and we flipped through the whole thing taking in the beauty of them before I ever even went inside. The photographer has an unusual ability to capture the spirit of Tasha in her designs and arrangements. Delightfully, the book is sprinkled with many of Tasha's own artworks as well.
This is definitely a coffee table book, one to be picked up frequently and enjoyed by many!

Tasha Tudor's poignant art has fascinated adults and children for decades. Her nineteenth-century New England lifestyle is legendary. Gardeners are especially intrigued by the profusion of antique flowers -- spectacular poppies, six-foot foxgloves, and intoxicating peonies -- in the cottage gardens surrounding her hand-hewn house. Until now we've only caught glimpses of Tasha Tudor's landscape. In this gorgeous book, two of her friends, the garden writer Tovah Martin and the photographer Richard Brown, take us into the magical garden and then behind the scenes.
