Book Reviews of Tao of Jeet Kune Do

Book Review: Insightful and inspiring, a benefit to any Martial Artist.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought The Tao of Jeet Kune Do many years ago to supplement my Kung Fu training. One of its most amazing qualities, is that something new can be discovered in it every time that you read it. It is Jeet Kune Do, but I would argue that his principles are also Kung Fu/Wu Shu principles in origin, and clearly the result of his training roots. I believe that Bruce saw a certain weakness in the way that modern Kung Fu was progressing, and he realized that the "formlessness" of Jeet Kune Do was something of a summit, the Everest of Kung Fu at its heart. It is an immortal work, priceless in its spirit and its content. I would recommend it to any martial artist seeking a higher path and deeper understanding. Sincerely, Erik D.J. O'Brien, author of "Kur's Rage."

Book Review: An incredible collection of philosophies and guidance.....
Summary: 5 Stars

Tao of Jeet Kune Do is, in my opinion, the best martial arts book that has ever been written. This book is to be used as a guide on how to become a great martial artist. The first section of the book is a collection of various thoughts and philosophies the master wrote down which pertain to martial arts as a way of life. Then the book goes on into the qualities of Jeet Kune Do and guidelines on how to become a good fighter which includes excercise, quick seeing, plan of attack, and much, much more. If you read this book cover to cover it gives you the most information on how to fight than any other martial arts book I have ever read. It is a true masterpiece by a great master and I suggest this book for martial arts and Bruce Lee fans all over.

Book Review: Enlightenment
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to say this is one of the most insightful books i have ever read. another review before mine says "the book says to throw it out after you read it"; this does not literally mean to throw out the book, it is merely a metaphor. What the book actually says is to "when you fully understand this book discard it" meaning don't rely on the book to determine your actions and personal development, rather learn form it book and develop your own style, not copy Bruce's action and style word for word. This book is not determined to be an instructional "how to fight" type of book, but rather a book of educational, psycological, and physical understanding.
I highly recommend this book for beginning martial artists, and the veterans of the arts.

Book Review: This book pioneers the modern martial arts movement
Summary: 5 Stars

I think this book is excellent. Bruce talks about real fighting. His book focuses on picking up the best parts of each martial art. He uses punching, kicking, trapping, and grappling. Very interesting book. His mental ideas are also good.

As for the guy earlier who reviewed this book, GRACIE JUIJITSU did Royce a lot of good when he passed out from a choke. I would like to see what a gracie would do if two or three guys fought him at the same time. While Gracie is in the guard with one guy, he would be getting kicked in the head by the other two. Gracies can't strike or do good takedowns. Grabbing someone and falling to your back does not qualify as a takedown. Bruce is a much better total fighter than any gracie alive.

Book Review: Quite possibly one of the best Martial Arts books ever made.
Summary: 5 Stars

Bruce Lee indeed was a master of the martial arts and this wonderful display of his thoughts, philosophies and variation/techniques on this subject matter engages the reader and gives guiding thoughts on how he fought and how one can utilize different aspects of martial arts to fit one's self. A must-read for martial arts and especially Bruce Lee fans. I myself am a great fan of Bruce Lee and am very, no, extremely pleased with this work. It's different from those books that try to teach you. The thing wrong with those books is one can't ask them questions, and to learn the martial arts one needs an instructor. Tao of Jeet Kune Do is an extraordinary alternative to the latter and a wonderful pleasure to read.
