Book Review: Excelent Short Stories by Edgar Allan Poe
Summary: 5 Stars
I read the short story "The Gold Bug" which was included in this book and thought it was a very unique story written by Poe. Usually laced with the mood of melancholy, this story was exciting and told the tale of the intrugue and addiction that goes along with finding burried treasure. Like all classic pieces by Poe, the story had a sense of rhythm to it which gave fluidity to the story and made it a very quick and clear read. The story itself was very detailed and thought out, the length of the work caused no lack of detail.My favorite aspect of the whole story was the way it builds in detail and suspense, gradually giving the reader more shocking information along the way makes one feel the excitement along with the characters of the story. The story satisfies the popular fatasy of finding burried pirate treasure with a secret map and seems to be an early incarnate of "The Goonies", with Poe's writing much more elegant and moving. I highly reccomend this book and the contents inside to anyone who loves good literature.
