Book Reviews of Taking Up and Getting UpBook Review: Getting to the root of your health problems Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very good read for a variety of reasons. Read it to understand and appreciate how someone just like you and me, not someone superhuman, has fought disease and certain death even, by addressing things that normally aren't addressed by conventional medicine. It isn't a magical journey, it has its ups and downs, and you'll need to steel yourself a bit to read the book. But it is so worth it, because at the end of the book's journey, you have the miracle of hope with you. If this brave person can do this, so can you!
I like the way the book has been designed- a movement from the past to the present and back, allows you to guess what the "root cause" may have been at each stage, and how these revelations helped the author to understand her present moment better.
Summary of Taking Up and Getting UpMarieke Roland Holst spent ten years debilitated by illness. Through an extraordinary process of transformation, she has a new perspective on the meaning of life and spirituality. Her search for answers brought her to the realization that karma -- the law of cause and effect -- contributed to her illness. Taking Up and Getting Up chronicles her healing process through forgiving others and letting go of chronic fear via meditation. She describes how getting to the root of her problems in past lives cleaned up "old baggage" and infl uenced her present life and that of her family. In the end, it restored her health. Her book is a story of hope for the individual and humankind as a whole.
