Book Reviews of Swimsuit

Book Review: the meanest, nastiest and scariest serial killer since Hannibal
Summary: 5 Stars

Reviewed by Narayan Radhakrishnan for RebeccasReads (8/09)

Thomas Harris's "Silence of the Lambs" and its two sequels "Hannibal" and "Hannibal Rising" gave a new image and dimension to the phrase psychopath. Each psychological thriller written since then had to jump up several notches...lest they fail in comparison with Hannibal Lecter. More often than not many an attempt to create someone that would defy Hannibal Lecter simply fizzled away. But not so with this one. James Patterson's standalone novel "Swimsuit," written in collaboration with Maxine Paetro, showcases the meanest, nastiest and scariest psychopath killer, I have ever encountered (in fiction I mean), well....ever since I started reading.

Benjamin Hawkins was a struggling cop turned crime reporter turned mystery writer. In a world dominated by Michael Connelly, he found himself struggling to gain recognition. Then a beautiful young model is found missing, presumably dead and Hawkins decides to write a book about the girl. But unknown to him, the killer whom we know as Henri Benoit has other plans for Hawkins. He wants Hawkins to ghostwrite his autobiography. The writer is soon virtually trapped in this psychotic frenzy.....of an egoistic killer who kills only for one single reason....he simply loves killing.

I enjoy the standalone thrillers by Patterson. But I have some grievances. They give you sleepless nights, you get engrossed in these books that you are late for work; and once you begin the book- you forget everything including picking up your toddler daughter from kindergarten. So Mr. Patterson- if you are reading this let me tell you- I have resolved to stop reading your novels...yup, this would be my resolution for the year 2039.

Book Review: He did it again!
Summary: 5 Stars

I would like to start out by saying this book is not meant for the people who dont want to get into a mind of a psychopathic killer. James Patterson gives a lot of detail of Henri Benoit and how he kills his victims. The sad part is this is actually what goes threw these peoples minds too. It maybe gross or sickening but its the truth. I give James Patterson a lot of credit for being able to write and book like this. This book is not like any book I have read of his but he made it interesting.
I was a little skeptical in the beginning wondering is this going to be good. In the end I was pleased to say yes this book definitely was worth the read. I was a little disappointed with the ending but the epilogue sums up some of it to make the ending a lot better. I would recommend James Patterson readers to read this book. If you can make it past the first 100 pages you will be glad you did. I thought he did a wonderful job with this book. I will continue to read more of his books.

Book Review: What's the problem??
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't understand all the negative reviews of this book, especially those complaining about how graphic and gory it was. Did you read the jacket? Surely you were aware you were about to read a MURDER MYSTERY? Were you expecting cotton-candy fluff?

I have read a lot of Patterson's books, I am a fan of his stand-alone novels, not necessarily the Cross and Murder Club series. I thought this book was fantastic, it was a very quick read, once I started on Christmas evening I was unable to put it down. I logged about 300 pages and finished up the next day.

I have to say its one of my favorite recent reads and I just logged on to the reviews out of curiosity and was very surprised by the negative reviews. I don't know what's not to like, its quick moving, descriptive, succint, and leaves you wanting more. An A+ in my book.

Book Review: Very,very enjoyable. "WINK."
Summary: 5 Stars

I have heard the rumor that Patterson is not writing his books himself, but having a co author write them under his name. Who cares???

Swimsuit is one of Patterson's most gruesome and diabolical books to date. He keeps one guessing, with twists and turns right 'til the very end. My response after speeding through this book was Oh, My God. I had no idea."
To give away what this is all about, would be a crime, and I might end up on the wrong side of a sex video with my head in another's hand, just for fun and laughs for those voyeurs who enjoy this type of porno. Read this book and you will be breathless 'til the very end and then. "WINK." It all comes together is a rich and fantastic tale. There just are not any bad Patterson books no matter who writes them. "WINK."

Book Review: Kindle Readers Shut Up
Summary: 5 Stars

I haven't read this book yet. I wanted to add my disgust with you Kindle readers who have pretty much invalidated a valuable tool in assessing a new book, the Customer Review.

Based on Patterson's last 10 books or so, I'm sure this one was whipped up in a month or two without his earlier craftsmanship.

That is why I refuse to spend a penny for his books any longer and am happy to wait until his books are available at the library. It is a huge shame that this writer has become such a whore and that you Kindle readers have damaged the vaue of the Customer Reviews/Ratings.
