Book Reviews of Swallowing StonesBook Review: Swallowing Stones Summary: 5 Stars
Swallowing Stones is a suspenseful, well-presented story, which in my perspective could not be written any better. It starts out with a somewhat ignorant teenager named Michael MacKenzie. His best pal and loyal friend Joe Sadowski seems to be the source of jeopardizing Michael's life. On Michael's 17th birthday, Joe had secretly given Michael the rifle in which had wrecked his life permanently. It took some deep thought. Could I get in trouble? What could possibly happen? It was as if he was mulling on the situation forever. Than finally, he flailed the rifle straight up in the air, and with the pull of a trigger, released a raging bullet that could cause a great amount of danger. Later in that day, the news had reported a death of a man by the name of Charlie Wood. Charlie Wood was ponderously repairing the rooftop. With the intentional observation made by Jenna Wood, Charlie's daughter, she had witnessed the tragedy of the intense bullet. It had ripped through his skull as if it was made of cotton. Jenna was in a stage of shock. She was in distraught to see her father slowly, carefully, die into what fate had in store for him. The emotion in Michael was running with fluster. Could that be possible? Was that I? Maybe it was someone else! Either way, Michael knew profoundly that it was he.
To make the problem worse, Michael was in perplexity with the other side of his life. In this world, there were but two people. Those two people were Amy Ruggerio, and Darcy, his invidious girlfriend. However, he seems to encounter Jenna Wood, the victim's daughter. Jenna Wood gradually catches on to Michael's alibi. Along with the tribulations in his life, the confliction between his friends, family, and schoolmates seem to get to him in a worse sense.
Swallowing Stones is in fact one of my favorite books. To tell the truth, the ending of the story is still tearing me apart. It ends on the note of Michael finally facing Jenna in what was her favorite tree in the town. He was just about to confess his guilt, misery, and the remorse inside of him. When suddenly, I turned the page to what was the most catastrophic thing I had ever saw... the book was over! I highly recommend you to read this book. The tension and apprehension the book portrays is utterly amazing. Although the content is a bit mature headed towards young adults, I still believe kids from the ages of twelve and up should read this book. The byline of the story is just outrageous! I guarantee that anyone who reads this will be ultimately satisfied.
Summary of Swallowing StonesIt begins with a free and joyful act--but from then on, Michael finds it impossible even to remember what it felt like to be free and joyful. When he fires his new rifle into the air on his seventeenth birthday, he never imagines that the bullet will end up killing someone. But a mile away, a man is killed by that bullet as he innocently repairs his roof. And Michael keeps desperately silent while he watches his world crumble.
Meanwhile Jenna, the dead man's daughter, copes with desperation of her own. Through her grief, she tries to understand why she no longer feels comfortable with her boyfriend and why a near stranger named Michael keeps appearing in her dreams.
Suspenseful and powerfully moving, this is the unforgettable story of an accidental crime and its haunting web of repercussions.
