Book Review: Want to get into American football, but don't know where to start?
Summary: 5 Stars
I know, I know. Most Americans know the nuances of the game of football, and follow the NFL to varying degrees. However this might surprise some of you, but I wasn't one of them, even though I've lived here my whole life. For whatever reason, I just couldn't get into the game; I guess I've always been more of a baseball fan. To clarify, it's not like I live in a cave or anything. I mean, I've played in fantasy leagues at the office, but never did well, because the statistics were like a foreign language to me. (I still don't understand why they use yards. It's called American football for a reason, idiots, quit using the metric system.)
Last month, that all changed, because of this insightful book. Of course, the book only deals with the Superbowl, so college football is hardly mentioned, but now I know that each side has eleven players! It's the simple stuff that this book really shines a light on.
I don't recommend it for anyone who regularly watches the game, because the games it uses as examples are historic, so you can just look up the results on Wikipedia, if you forgot them. But if you are out of the loop on this sport, I can't think of anything better for a neophyte who wants to learn more.
