Book Reviews of Super Baby Food

Book Review: outstanding, easy read
Summary: 5 Stars

Unlike other reviewers, I often refer to this book as "my kitchen bible." I found this book very easy to read. It's not necessary to read it cover to cover, or in order! The chapters are short and concise, and while they do make references to other pages, I found them easy to locate, not at all a hassle.

I found there were some pages that I used more frequently as I began to actually make cereal for my sons, and there's a great chart for when to introduce what foods, so I used a stick note as a book mark for those pages, and wrote at the top of the sticky what page it was saving.

As for those skeptics who question her background and credentials, she herself suggests speaking with your pediatrician regarding ANY feeding schedule, and all food you put into your babes body. I was no expection. I showed him the chart, and he aggreed that it looked wonderful.

Even if you don't follow every word of her advice, Yaron leaves you feeling empowered to follow some of it. It is very rewarding to know that the food your babe is eating came directly from you.

At the very least, you get some wonderful information about nutrition, proteins, etc...

Amazon.com has the best price around, by the way! Happy feeding!

Book Review: Information Overload - But I Loved It!
Summary: 5 Stars

Ms. Yaron took the time to write an extensive review of baby nutrition and recommendations. She is definately "type A" as far as I am concerned and I appreciated someone else compiling such an excellent source of good information. As with many many aspects of parenting, each person needs to develop their own approach. For example, my baby doesn't even like the super baby porridge! But her concepts on food combining and calories per pound are very important to know and to be conscious of when you are preparing your baby's meal-even if you are not vegetarians. Moreover, her recipes in the back are EXCELLENT-especially the spreads! And her "bonus" section on household cleaning agents (safe and organic), party tips, etc has been very helpful, cool and fun!

She does also make this point that her babies have been especially healthy and she believes its due to the Super Baby Food diet. I think this may be possible (who am I to say?) but my kids eat really well, very healthfully, but still get sick, maybe 3-4 times per year. I think if kids socialize and go to school (or preschool) they are going to get sick, with or without super baby food.

All in all, an excellent resource!

Book Review: My BIBLE for homemade baby food
Summary: 5 Stars

As with any book or reference guide a reader will never like everything a book has to offer. We all take the parts we want and will always leave the parts behind or not use the information on the things we don't agree with. With that in mind....

A lot of people who made comments regarding which foods had high nitrates on the book reviews and thus shouldn't be given to babies weren't educated in the organic foods vs. nonorganic foods and how all those chemicals change the actual chemical makeup of the fruit or vegetable. If you stick with mostly organic foods high nitrates isn't a concern.

Another thing the Amazon reviewers give low marks for is that the Super Baby Food book recommends giving babies some nuts and such before 1 years of age. While nut allergies are A VERY SERIOUS RISK and should be taken carefully, babies that are nursed vs. formula fed have already had traces of nut proteins in their mother's milk if their mommy's eat nuts and peanut butter and therefore have already been subjected to nut proteins. While babies only formula fed have never been subjected to nut proteins hence will be more likely to have a nut allergy and serious reaction to nuts.

Book Review: Cool Info for baby and toddler
Summary: 5 Stars

GREAT book for baby and toddler. What a nice surprise to know that someone decided to respect what the doctors have been saying for years, watch out for preservatives and chemicals in babies and toddlers. My older children really do have common food allergies just because we introduced them to too many things at once. What a terrible experience they (and me) have had. With the recent baby, someone gave this to me for a gift. Now I know what is good and when it is right. Also recommemded: Mommy-CEO, by Jodie Lynn. She writes a book about the most tried and true tips in parenting and my opinion is that if we feed our children good food to keep them healthy, we can get even better results if we feed our own mind about good parenting skills. Good food equals super health - and good parenting skills equals super kids along with peace of mind. One other book we have really used is On Becoming Baby Wise, by Gary Ezzo. Buy all three and please tell others about them. Your freinds will really appreciate you just as mine did. Best of all, you will see a huge difference in your family and in your own outlook. These three books don't have all of the answers, but boy do they ever help!

Book Review: I could not have done without it!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was a god-send. As a first time mom I was looking for a basic outline on when to introduce which solid foods to my six month old baby. (There was so much conflicting information on the Internet.) In Ms. Yaron's book I got that and so much more. For the past four months I have prepared all my daughter's food, and what seemed like a daunting task a couple of months back, couldn't be simpler. The Food Cube Method is really easy, and makes the daily preparation of food effortless. (The section on preparing and storing fresh fruit and vegetables is excellent.) My baby has transitioned to her diet of Super Porridge, broccoli, avocado, mango, squash and brewer's yeast with gusto. The only complaint I have is that there are not enough days in the month to start all the new foods listed in the month-by-month columns, while remaining true to the "four day" wait period! It is so exciting to watch her reaction to the new tastes, smells and textures. I will be introducing meat into her diet within the next month, so was delighted that the second edition of the book discusses meat.

I can honestly say that I don't know what I would have done without Ms. Yaron's book.
