Renowned voice strengthening specialist Elizabeth Sabine has re-released 'Strengthening Your Singing Voice', which details her "secrets" to strengthening and saving the voice. This new version is completely revised with many pictures from her performing/teaching years. The book covers everything vocal-power related; showing the singer how to develop that big operatic full voiced tone as applied to rock singing.
Referred to as the "Queen of speech and screech" by People Magazine, Elizabeth is most known as the vocal coach to the rock stars. She has taught singers from bands such as, Guns-N-Roses, Keel, 38 Special, and Sugar Ray.
In Strengthen Your Singing Voice, Elizabeth approaches the subject of vocal abuse through the act of breath control and misuse of the stomach muscles. She explains how the majority of singers have actually been misled on the subject of breath control, and points out that most vocal strain is a result of forcing too much air between the vocal cords. This 24 chapter, 93-page book contains testimonials from voice students, and explains how to correct vocal faults that result from the misuse of the stomach muscles, diaphragm, and breath control. She shows you how to enhance and improve the voice by learning how to correctly tighten the stomach without damaging the vocal cords, and sing with passion for a higher range, better tone, and more power.
Although her methods might seem slightly unorthodox, mostly due to the fact that her exercises do not follow any scale routines, if you follow her program, you will definitely learn how to eliminate vocal strain, improve your over-all singing voice, and add years to your singing career. These methods have helped to save hundreds of performing singer's voices.

I actually bought the original version four years ago and tried her methods right before I was able to break my first wine glass by voice alone. I can attest to the fact that her methods work. Although I realized that I had been applying her methods to my singing and instruction, the book and the many phone coversations we've had have helped me to look at breath control and stomach muscle tension from a different point of view. It goes to show that you can take certain aspects of singing for granted. \
The moment I changed my focus, I exploded my first glass by voice alone. I am also sure that by focusing on how I was tightening my stomach, I was able to reach almost 120 decibels in volume. Without her guidance, I never would have shattered a wineglass by just my voice alone. Her breath support concepts have truly taken my voice to another level.I recommend this book for all serious vocalists who want to improve their strength and power.
