While I'm not sure as to why these ratings for STRAPPED aren't any higher, I will just offer my own opinion and and let you decide. Laurinda opens the book with taking us through Mo's past. How she was raped and abused as a child by a well-known man in the neighborhood. This devastating and tragic event leads to life altering decisions that may open up more problems than Mo could stand to handle. I absolutely loved this book! And it may be that I was able to get more out of it, and appreciate the work on an entirely different level because I read WALK LIKE A MAN, by this author, and even flew to Atlanta to see the play. So I was anticipating reading Mo's full story in STRAPPED. For new fans of Ms. Brown, I suggest you read WALK LIKE A MAN, and if you can, check out the play. You will feel the emotions, understand the cause, and discover how sometimes life can have us all feeling STRAPPED!
