Book Reviews of Stop the InsanityBook Review: Finally a book that makes sense Summary: 5 Stars
I started reading this book a year ago. I thaught it made great sense. But I guess I wasn't ready to follow it just yet.. Then last August I started reading it again and it clicked..I guess by then I was ready. I started watching what I hate and counting the percentage of fat in everything. What a discovery to think that some of the food I thaught was low fat was loaded with it... Of course going to the supermarket with my calculator wasn't always a blast.. but I got used to it and now I'm doing fine. I've lost 30 pounds since August 17, feeling great and for the first time in my life eating great meals, 3 times a day... To anyone who wants to change the way they eat I suggest this book, and you should try her cookbook too. Oh and by the way I'm hooked on her exercises tapes. Who would of taught that I could look forward to doing step workout 5 days a week.... Bye and good luck to all of you.
Book Review: The only thing that worked... Summary: 5 Stars
I can't pinpoint what it is about Susan Powter and her book that made me so motivated, but whatever it is, it got me moving! And I mean moving. I was doing nothing all day but watching soap operas surrounded by comfort foods. The first time I read Susan's book I started reading around 7 pm in my very messy bedroom, which matched my life, a total mess. I didn't go to sleep that night, I could not put the book down!! By 8 am breakfast had been served, all the laundry in the NEIGHBORHOOD had been done and my own bedroom, which often reflects my mood, was spotless. If you lack motivation, you are probably not reading this review right now, it is probably someone who cares about you. I urge, no urge is not the right word... I SCREAM AT YOU: GET THIS BOOK!! IT IS THE WAY TO A HEALTHY BODY, LOOKING AND FEELING BETTER! I wish everyone out there who needs this book could have it...
Book Review: Most effective diet/fitness book I've ever read! Summary: 5 Stars
I've been 'trying to lose weight/get fit' for 35 years. I've been through it all, tried everything, hated my body, hated food, finally gave up, and believed I'd never be under 200 lbs. again. Then I read Susan Powter's book, which explained things I'd never had explained to me before. I've been following her guidelines for 6 weeks, and today I weigh less than I have in 6 years. Ideal weight, here I come! And I'm eating pizza and french fries, midnight snacks, etc., and not 'depriving myself'! As a writer Ms. Powter is, at times, almost unreadable, but the information in this book has, pardon the cliches, changed my life. I feel great - this book has my highest recommendation! 2002 update: I reached my ideal weight for the first time in my life, and stayed that way, thanks to this book - don't believe the folks who say low-fat dieting is bunk, it really works!
Book Review: Great book if you read ALL of what she is saying. Summary: 5 Stars
Several people reviewing this book think that Susan says to eat anything and as much as you want. If you were really paying attention while you were reading, you will notice that she says to eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full. She shows examples of substitutes for high fat food, but I really don't think she intended for anyone to actually eat 800 grapes instead of one chocolate chip cookie. Also, she does not condone eating food high in sugar or processed grains. She does advise to eat vegetables, whole grains, lean white meat, and fruits (organically grown even). Her advise is sound and does work, if you are willing to get off your couch and exercise and be sensible about what you eat.
Book Review: Feeling worthless because of your weight? READ THIS BOOK NOW Summary: 5 Stars
I have read many different books on weight loss, and quite a few are very good. THIS BOOK IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. It is wonderful, it is thruthful, and it offers you hope, at a reasonable price (I don't mean money here, I mean lifestyle changes). Without knowing it, I was already on Suzan's "plan", and had already seen some success, to the shock of my family and friends who didn't see how I could lose weight without following their dieting advice. Suzan's book let me know that I am moving (and breathing and eating) in the right direction, and I am so grateful that she shared her story with all of us.
