Book Review: Fascinating story from an old friend

I'm not a big fan of Loretta Lynn's music, but I do find her to be a fascinating character. I saw the movie Coal Miner's Daughter and read the book. I just learned about this book and didn't hesitate to buy it. I opened the book to scan a couple of pages when my order arrived, and found myself not wanting to put it down. I read it very quickly over the course of a few days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Loretta's writer does a masterful job of assembling the singer's very candid and folksy commentary into a cohesive narrative of her life of constant ups and downs. Now that Loretta's husband is gone, she has disclosed many more stories about their difficult life together, all the while maintaining that she loved him dearly. The litany of hardships Loretta endured is amazing. She is truly a remarkable woman. I enjoyed reading her story. The fact that it was told in her own manner of speaking made it read like a conversation with an old friend. Loretta, you are *more* than woman enough to take on the world. Thank you for sharing the rest of your story.
