Book Reviews of the Statler Bros. Random MemoriesCustomer Review: Enjoyed stories of song origins Summary: 3 Stars
The title of this book is very accurate. It's random, or selected memories of the Reid brothers during their Statler Brothers career. The best parts were the stories of getting started as a group and then getting the big break that allowed them to pursue a career in music. Also, and even better, are the stories of how various songs came about. I would have enjoyed much more of it, covering all of the hits.
If you're expecting a regular autobiography, you may be disappointed. There's very little personal info that is shared except what's relevant to the act or songs. I don't recall specifics about marriages, divorces, other siblings?, children, etc. You'll hear quite a bit about the staff that worked with the SB; in fact, all the 'thank yous' to staff members seemed to consume a big part of the book, a part that probably should have been put into an appendix.
