Book Review: "That's a Winner!"

This special edition Sports Illustrated celebrates the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals. I grew up near the St. Louis area and have been a Cards fan my whole life. I was really excited to see my team on the cover of this year's World Series Commemorative Edition. Like the regular issues of the magazine, this edition contains mostly pictures: the new Busch stadium, Albert Pujols, Jeff Weaver, David Eckstein, Scott Spiezio, etc. The articles include an introduction about the "spirit of St. Louis"; articles highlighting and recapping the division series, the National League Championship, and World Series; a piece about Pujols; a look at Chris Carpenter; and an interesting look back at Stan "The Man" Musial. There is also a section highlighting what SI believes to be the ultimate Cardinal team (putting together the best of all the Cards who have ever played) and a gallery of SI covers featuring Cardinal players through the years. There isn't a whole lot of information here, but that's not really the point. This is an item that a person buys to remember a championship that many said could never have been. Great for any Cardinal fan as well as die-hard Sports Illustrated collectors.
