Book Review: Excellent Reference for Clinical Paperwork
Summary: 5 Stars

I used this book extensively for my clinical paperwork. It gives you suggested diagnoses for different diseases/symptoms, w/ suggested interventions and outcomes. It really sped up the amount of time it took me to complete all of those care plans for clinicals every week. This manual is the best for finding things quickly, and in nursing school saving time filling out all that paperwork is worth it's weight in gold. Most of the reference manuals suggested by instructors I never used - this one actually was very helpful. I recommend it to any nursing student who has to write a lot of care plans, or who has difficulty with coming up with nursing diagnoses.

Sparks and Taylor's Nursing Diagnosis Reference Manual, Seventh Edition offers clearly written, authoritative care plans for every NANDA-approved nursing diagnosis, to meet the needs of patients across the lifespan. This edition is thoroughly updated and includes fourteen new NANDA diagnoses.

Care plans are organized by life stage?adult, adolescent, child, maternal-neonatal, and geriatric?as well as by type of care, such as community-based health care and psychiatric/mental health care. The nursing process is integrated throughout. Each NANDA diagnosis includes associated Nursing Interventions Classifications (NIC) and Nursing Outcomes Classifications (NOC). Appendices include Gordon's functional health patterns, a list of selected nursing diagnoses by medical diagnosis, and NANDA International.
