Book Reviews of Spanish for DummiesBook Review: And that in Spanish would be? Summary: 4 Stars
Having lived in Southern California most of my life, I had tons of Spanish friends. The church I use to belong to had a Spanish service...but until I started teaching writing, I had little need for a reference guide for Spanish words. Some times a student will toss in a Spanish phrase here and there...this is a good source to help me know the spelling and if the phrase is used correctly.
Book Review: Spanish for Dummies works! Summary: 4 Stars
The book is easy to understand and the Spanish words spelled out phonetically so that the user may pronounce them without difficulty. Like most of the Dummies books, this is laid out in a way that is easy to use. It also has a CD in the back so the words and phrases can be actually heard to improve pronunciation.
Book Review: Good way to learn another language Summary: 4 Stars
I grew up wanting to learn how to speak Spanish. This was the first book I bought (from Amazon, too) to help me learn. It comes with a CD that lets you hear how to say each word. It's helped me a lot but I have much more to learn. I think it's a great way for beginners, like me, to learn a foreign language.
Book Review: Spanish for Dummies Summary: 4 Stars
The only thing keeping me from giving this book five stars is the pronunciation guide used with new vocabulary. It unduly complicates something that is, in essence, very simple. Ignore those "phonetics" and the vocabulary, grammar, exercises, and audio CD are excellentand and very usable.
Book Review: pretty easy to understand Summary: 4 Stars
Some of the pronunciations are miss leading. Such as bv... bein or bueno they sound different but both have the bv sound according to where you sound it out. The cds don't tell you what page to go to, it skips around a lot.
