Book Reviews of Spanish for DummiesBook Review: Great Book Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very good book. I'd never picked up a book in the "Dummies" series (because the name of the series may have contributed to the dumbing down of our country)... Anyway, THIS book is great. I got it for the ideas I can find to spice up my own teaching of Spanish, not for learning it myself. Still, as a professor of Spanish and author of Spanish books, I can always use a fresh idea.
I'll be putting a book cover on it!
Book Review: Spanish for Dummies Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this book because my four year old grandson is taking Spanish in his pre-nursery school class and while I had basic Spanish in high school (many many years ago) and can say a "few things to get by" I wanted reference material I could refer to in order to communicate with him as I know he will excel quickly and I need to "keep up". He already says good morning - good night and how are you so I had to get with it!
Book Review: Best book to learn Spanish Summary: 5 Stars
In keeping with other books for dummies, Spanish for Dummies is easy-to-read and understand. You get a quick grasp on Spanish basics and many conversational interactions that are also available on a CD that is included. I would also recommend purchasing the handy pocket-sized Spanish Phrases for Dummies that is great for travel. For more intensive practice in speaking Spanish, check out Transparent Language software.
Book Review: Spanish for Dummies Summary: 5 Stars
This book is perfect for the beginner. I started to take a class in our High School but was totally lost since the instructor was asking us questions in Spanish. Needless to say I didn't go back. This book starts you off as if you never had any lessons or don't know a word in Spanish. It starts by explaining how to pronounce the letters and goes on from there. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a beginner.
Book Review: Spanish For Dummies-Great to work from Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered the book along with the Spanish-English Dictionary. I have a young college student, who is from Spain, tutoring me and we use the books diligently. She said they were both good to work from, in conjunction with what she is teaching me. When I study alone, I constantly refer to this book; the CD is not as helpful as the book, if you use it alone. Used with the book, it's great.
