Book Reviews of Sm 101: A Realistic Introduction

Book Review: A must read for all BDSM participants
Summary: 5 Stars

Like the author, I was originally inspired into bondage by the book, "The Joy of Sex" and I utilized the techniques of tying, blindfolding and gagging ones partner.Even as a 25 year veteran of bondage, I found this text packed with useful information and learned a thing or two. Anyone either already actively involved in bondage or just starting should read this book. The safety techniques are considerations that many people ignore.I am amazed at the growth of this culture BUT equally amazed at those who try to participate without really knowing what they are doing. A excellent common sense book packed with information that is not necessarily common knowledge. And a must read for anyone already actively on bondage or those who want to be.

Book Review: A Good Starter Book
Summary: 5 Stars

I, a new player, without any other resource other than videos, found that this book is exactly what it is named.. SM 101... Anyone who is starting or just curious about BDSM **MUST** buy this book. It will give you a general overall about most things involed in BDSM. Whether physical, mental or social, it covers it all.
However, don't expect to find a step by step 'manual' on BDSM. This is not a book that tells you how to do this and that (use your imagination -.-)
What is talked about in this book will help all readers, whether new and unexperienced or 'old pros of the trade'...
Although it could be calssified as a 'textbook' the author makes it so easy to read. I finished the book in an evening.

Book Review: Wonderfully written
Summary: 5 Stars

Of the half dozen or so SM books I own, SM 101 has to be my very favorite. Its a well balanced, easy to read, introduction into the world of adult, consensual BDSM. And one of the nicest things about the writting is that it isn't judgemental, even subtly judgemental, about any particular form of sexual expression. The chapters cover the basics of Dominance and Submission, rope bondage, impact play, entering the lifestyle and much more.

And for those expierenced players, Wiseman brings up many ideas and concepts that some of us hadn't fully considered. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone considering entering a BDSM lifestyle or for anyone who would like a good foundation in the basics.

Book Review: Want it rough? This is the first thing to get.
Summary: 5 Stars

Want to play whips and chains? Read this book first!
Seriously- the first half is safety, safety, more safety! Te Deum safety. But there's been a few bad accidents that could have been avoided by reading this book. There are reasons for avoiding certain things, and proper ways to do others.
About halfway through- the fun starts! This really is an excellent primer for anyone with Those Urges- you are not alone, and education is very important. Jay covers safe play, safety in dating new people, how to meet those new people, and what to do with those new people. The instructions get pretty detailed. A mesmerizing read for anyone, and very valuable education for anyone who wants to participate.

Book Review: One of the best
Summary: 5 Stars

I first read SM101 when it was a comb-bound volume assembled from photocopied pages. At that time, my own, The Loving Dominant, was "in press" at the publishers and no other hetrosexual BDSM how-to existed. It impressed me then and it continues to impress me. Jay's grasp of BDSM is comprehensive. However, one of the finest parts of the book is the section on negotiation. This, not knocking over the furniture or wrapping your partner's genitals with a flogger, is where there is the greatest risk of a scene going wrong. Anyone who follows these guidelines greatly reduces the chance that unexpected "landmines" may crop up.
