Book Review: The best cookbook for mini-slow cookers

I selected this book because a friend in England had been using it. Although it's a UK item, it is readily avaiable on Amazon. Do note the prices, however -- they vary greatly, in part because shipping costs also vary, depending on whether you are ordering from a stateside merchant or one actually in England. Besides recipes, the book discusses features of mini slow cookers, information that I found very helpful. This book is specifically for 1 1/2 or 2-qt cookers, which for me was an asset -- there is another -- Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Recipes for Two -- that is designed for slow cookers up to 3 1/2 quarts. One item to be aware of -- it's good to be comfortable with both metric and U.S. measuring systems. Both are given, but some are not accurate -- for example, the recipe for Irish stew starts off with 450gm (2lb) lamb shoulder; later, it lists 450gm (1 lb) potatoes, sliced thin. 450 gm is about 1 lb; you'd never get the 2 lb of meat in! I actually found that 1 lb for each of those was a bit much; my package of lamb chops was about 0.8 lb, and even after cutting into cubes just fit into the cooker, on top of about 3/4 lb potatoes.

Preapare a few choice ingredients, leave them cooking in your pot and come home to a delicious meal.
