Book Reviews of Slayer's Reign in Blood (33 1/3)

Book Review: The best book about the best album by the best band ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you're a Slayer fan, this book is a must for you. If you're not a Slayer fan, read this book and you will be. D.X. Ferris has history from the people who made the album happen, as well as people who have been influenced by it, and does a great job of showing why this album is loved by so many fans. Not just a stuffy history of album with "this happened, then this happened, then that happened," the book goes into the cult like following that this album has earned.

For about $10, you can't go wrong. And, at any price, you won't find a better book on Slayer.

Book Review: Required reading for metal fans
Summary: 5 Stars

This book should be required reading for any metal fan.

The interviews are consistently interesting and give the reader a good sense of the real metal scene of the 80's. This book ain't about fluffy haired poseurs and their power-ballads.

Ferris provides everything you ever wanted to know about the record Reign In Blood, and tons of info on thrash metal in general. Even if you don't particularly care for Slayer, this book goes beyond the band and provides rare insight into the era of now-classic thrash.

Book Review: Death to sell outs!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Ferris has done his homework and interviewed a sufficient number of people, especially those directly involved. He's obviously a huge fan also, which any author who tackles one of these 33 1/3 books should be. The book is a highly enjoyable and informative read, even for those of us who remember waiting for this release. I learned a few things. "Reign In Blood" holds up incredibly well and, as the author and those interviewed state, it continues to be highly influential. I give much respect to the editors of this series for including it.

Book Review: Slayer Rules
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great book, for my Slayer Study Group.
I appreciate the writing and the size of the book!

Book Review: Simple enough
Summary: 5 Stars

This book rules. If you like the band, you'll love the book (because it rules).
