Book Reviews of Skippyjon Jones in Mummy TroubleBook Review: Skippyjohn is fun Summary: 4 Stars
skippyjohn jones books are loved by all in our family, and this one is no exception!
Book Review: SkippyJon could have done so much better Summary: 3 Stars
I was really anxious to get this book:
1) because our school kids love Skippyjon Jones and always want to sing along
2) They are studying Egypt right now
I read it to myself and decided that maybe it was just me that the kids would still enjoy it.
I read it to the kids with as much enthusiasm as I could muster up, only to come to the end and having them say "we don't get it" and "can you read us the original Skippyjon now?" They didn't even want to sing half of the songs since they just didn't make sense to a kid. While there are some details on Egypt, they aren't presented in a way that makes it interesting to them.
Go with the original and maybe SkippyJon in the Doghouse, but don't buy this one.
Book Review: careful... Summary: 3 Stars
My four year-old daughter loved this book and the CD. Unfortunately, there are a couple of grammatical and pronunciation errors with the author's Spanish/Spanglish, which made it painful for me! Who edited this?!?
Book Review: The Audio CD is not to the same standard as other SkippyJon books Summary: 2 Stars
My kid's really enjoy SkippyJon Jones and especially the Audio versions. Unfortunately the narrator for this book is the author, who isn't bad, but is nowhere near as entertaining as the narrator of Lost in Spice, In the Doghouse, etc.
Book Review: unimpressed Summary: 2 Stars
disappointing. not a terribly interesting story and a little confusing. not even close to the cuteness of the first.
