Book Reviews of Single, Saved, and Having SexBook Review: Honest and Kind of In your Face Summary: 3 Stars
I've had this book since 2003. And I decided yesterday to pick it up and give it another chance. I was never really a sexually promiscuous person but at the time I was sexually active so not really into what she was saying. The book is very open and honest and if you are struggling with sexual sin then this is the book to read.
As SINGLE Christians this is one of the hardest things to deal with. Sexual Sin is running rampant in Christians. It is one of the hardest things to deal with because as long as we live we have to live with the flesh and the flesh is of the natural man.
At some points the book came off as being judgmental. I thought for a second she was going to Damn everybody to hell for ever THINKING of another person.
The book has some good points but some of the references she has in the book she needed to give the source of where the information came from.
Overall a pretty good book if you are struggling with this problem.
Book Review: Not for me Summary: 3 Stars
I borrowed this book from a girlfriend and I'm glad I didn't buy it. While I'm sure it's useful for some people, it really wasn't helpful to me. Many of the things she touched on were not things I struggle or have struggled with. And I just wasn't able to relate to her "sista-girl" tone. In fact, I found it a little grating. All in all, the book just felt like it was geared towards one group of people and I'm not in that group. That being said, for that one group of people, this book would be amazing.
P.S. If you think you're going to slip up in your dedication to celibacy or abstinence; this book is an awesome scare tactic. :)
Book Review: Slightly disappointing Summary: 3 Stars
I did like the book overall but some of the assumptions of the book were not well backed up.
Book Review: A Wait Summary: 2 Stars
It took a few weeks to get to me..i didn't like the wait at all.
Book Review: Hopefully the Worst Book Written on the Topic Summary: 1 Stars
This book is a literary horror for a thinking person. It slides in as if to shed some bit of light on the topic of sexuality for the saved and single, then proceeds to give some of the weakest, most brain-dead arguments for all of its major points. It is filled with flawed logic and rhetorical tricks. It's a bad sermon--relying on emotion and guilt, rather than logic, faith, and the Word. This book should serve to do one thing for its readers: inspire them to write. If this book got published, be assured that whatever you have been thinking about writing can be published, too. Begin writing immediately! You cannot do any worse.
