Book Reviews of Shadows of the Empire (Star Wars)

Book Review: Continue the Thrills of STAR WARS with Shadows of the Empire
Summary: 5 Stars

If you liked the STAR WARS movies, you'll love Shadows of the Empire. Han Solo has been captured and frozen in carbonite. Now Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, Lando, and their new friend Dash Rendar are on a mission to break him out. Set between Empire Strikes back and Return of the Jedi, it explains the events between the two of George Lucas's action-packed films. It will also give new meaning to the Shadows of the Empire video game for Nintendo 64. The game corresponds almost exactly with the novel.

Steve Perry perfectly captures the action that people have come to expect from the name STAR WARS. The action is amazing, the detail makes it even more thrilling, and it comes down to a climax any reader would love. Read this book to continue the non-stop action of STAR WARS.

Book Review: A Masterpiece!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read so many "Star Wars" novels that try to capture the feeling and storytelling power of George Lucas's dazzling world. Steve Perry's thrilling, emotional, and action-packed novel, "Shadows Of The Empire," is the best I have ever read. I even it enjoyed more than Timothy Zahn's "Heir To The Empire." This novel is stylish, full of great situations and fun to read characters. There's also a touch of eroticism which I really enjoyed since sexual situations rarely appear in "Star Wars" books. Perry has written a masterpiece that deserves to be read more than once. It's just total fun from beginning to end and it also has a touch of conspiratorial, underworld intrigue. This is how a "Star Wars" novel should be written!

Book Review: The Best Star Wars Book Other Then The Original
Summary: 5 Stars

This was the first Star Wars book I read that wasn't the originals. I got so into this one that i actually thought that this could very well be made into a movie. The conflicts between Darth Vader and Prince Xizor for the favour of the Empire were great (I wanted Darth to win). When he started to choke Xizor with the Force i laughed out loud. Luke trying to become a Jedi was great, his training and making the lightsaber, Great. Now i know that Han Solo is gone, frozen in carbonite, but Steve Perry got a man just like Han to fill in that spot. Dash Rendar. He fits the solo part well, concided, scruffy looking, and a smuggler. So really Steve Perry did an amazing job on this book to bad this was his only Star Wars book. I would like to read more of his stuff.

Book Review: The greatest story never told.
Summary: 5 Stars

My introduction to this was the N64 video game.
I loved that so much I just had to read the book.
And.........amazing.
The best Wars story right along side Empire Strikes Back.
The one story that SHOULD have been made into a movie and still probably could, even if it was just animated I could live with that.
A page turner from start to finish.
This book left me wanting more and more and more, just like any good book does.

The bad?
Nothing.
And I do mean nothing.
It's no easy feat to equal the greatness of Empire Strikes Back but Shadows does this with the greatest of ease.
All the familiar faces, good and evil and plenty of new characters that were a joy to discover.
Highest recommendations.

Book Review: As good as the films!
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading the Empire series by Timothy Zahn I spotted this book on the shelves and decided to continue reading Star Wars novels. What a good move that was because this book is a real classic. Involving many of the original movie characters as well as some exceptionally good new ones. It fits nicely into the void between the Empire and Jedi movies. The evil character of Xizor of the Black Sun Organisation is great and his infactuation with Leia provides a great plot line, especially his fatally attractive pheromones. This book could easily be made into a successful movie which is what makes it so good.

All in all this is an excellent swashbuckling adventure which Lucas would be proud of and with a superb climatic finish. Read it sooner rather than later!
