Book Reviews of Shadows of the Empire (Star Wars)

Book Review: Good enough to inspire toys!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is Star Wars Episode 5.5. What happens between "Empire" and "Jedi"? What is the deal when Mon Mothma mentions that many Bothans died to bring us the New Death Star info? What is the deal with Leia's disguise in "Jedi"? Chewy's Hair cut? etc.

This book actually begins in the middle of "Empire Strikes Back" during Darth Vader's Communication with the Emperor. We see that scene from Vader's perspective in "Empire". This book cleverly begins from the Emperor's chambers. And immediately, the reader is hooked!

Read this book!!! If you are like me and have seen the movies so many times you fear to even speak the number, this book has the ability to make you freshly view Episodes 5 and 6 from a whole different light.

As a testament to how good this book is, a soundtrack was developed and and entire (abbreviated) Hasbro toy line. I would love to see this one translated to film, that is how good this is.

Book Review: This one has it all
Summary: 5 Stars

Rare is the occasion that I would warrent any story worthy of 5 stars, but this one has got it! The only thing missing is Han Solo. (And Boba Fett's short-lived (ahem) appearance was something of a tease.) Xizor is much more calculating and compelling a villain than Thrawn could ever hope to be. Dash Rendar is what Han would be like if he hadn't stopped being a 'scoundrel'. Threepio and Artoo fly the Falcon! And you have a power play between Palpatine, Vader and Xizor. But best of all, you find out why so many of those damned Bothans died to get the Death Star II information!!!!!!!!! I've always loved to envision what events had taken place between the films. SotE fills the gap perfectly. If you readers are looking for an awesome Star Wars read, before you follow the hype and buy up all of the Tim Zahn books, I recommend checking out Shadows first. Definately worth it.

Book Review: It was pretty good, but it could have been better.
Summary: 5 Stars

I thought that Shadows of the Empire was a pretty good book because I like Star Wars and other books like Star Wars, it is good becuse it describes what happens between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It also describes how Luke, Leia, Lando, and Chewbacca found Han Solo on Tatooine in Jabba's palace, and how he got there. Also, it told a new story that hasn't been heard of in the movies. It could have been better becuase the author didn't give enough backround information on Xixor or Dash Rendar (ie. How Xixor became the head of the Black Sun (with more detail), and how Dash came to know Lando. I think that it should be a movie, but it would look silly if Luke was either older than he was in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, or played by a different actor, since Shadows of the Empire takes place between movies. But all in all it was a pretty good book.

Book Review: Excelent book from the star Wars universe
Summary: 5 Stars

Shadows of the Empire was an excellent book. It was, in my opinion the best book I have ever read. I even read it twice! I love it. It takes place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. It explains everything you want or need to know between those two periods. It explains ho Princess Leah Organa obtained the outfit of the Ubese bounty houter Bousche, and how she got the Thermal Detonators. It explains about the infamouse Black Sun, and it's deadly leader, Prince Xizor. Shadows of the Empire was the first book i have read from the Star Wars expanded Universe. I am currently working on the first book in the X-Wing Series. unfortunately, I have not read a book as great as Shadows of the Empire again, and I'm sure I never will. Book Review: An analysis and personal opinion of Shadows of the Empire.
Summary: 5 Stars

Before I read this great book of the Star Wars phenomenon I would never have read a book with the title: "Star Wars" attached to it. I really thought that reading any new book of "Star Wars" would be a waste of my time, because they all dealt with clone stormtroopers and events that had no real significance to the "Star Wars" movies. This book though was different, mainly because it takes place between "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" and because it reveals the answers to many questions that you may have asked when watching "Return of the Jedi". Also you get to learn more of the true character of Darth Vader and at the same time learn about Steve Perry's ganster, "Xizor" and the all time mercenary for hire, "Dash Rendar". All in all not a bad book.
