Book Reviews of Sew What! Skirts: 16 Simple Styles You Can Make with Fabulous FabricsBook Review: Worth A Look Even If You're a Veteran Summary: 4 StarsI was hesitant to buy this book after reading reviews because it seemed a bit simple. When it arrived, I nearly dismissed it because, yes, it WAS simple. Clearly geared towards beginners, the book takes you through all the steps for making skirts.
However, as I put it aside and started making some skirts myself without a pattern or a book, I found I needed to look little things up here and there -- when do they recommend I put in the facing? what are my finishing options? Turns out this is a pretty good reference book even if you don't use the patterns at all.
I was going to give it away as a gift after I saw how easy it seemed, but I think I'll keep it.
Summary of Sew What! Skirts: 16 Simple Styles You Can Make with Fabulous FabricsSewing is back! Young, crafty women are discovering the fun and creativity of working with fabric, needle, and thread to create simple, colorful skirts, suitable for showing off as wearable art. Sew What! Skirts assumes no prior sewing experience (and no home ec. class or mother with sewing skills!), and doesn’t get bogged down with overly complicated instructions or patterns.

With a creative can-do attitude, playful photographs, and super-simple step-by-step instructions, Sew What! Skirts will connect a whole new generation with the craft of making clothing that expresses your own unique look and personality.
