Book Reviews of Sesame Beginnings: Potty Time! (Sesame Street)Book Review: Ripped the last page immediately Summary: 3 Stars
I got this to help with my daughter's potty training. The book is cute. The last page has a cardboard lever that you use to "flush" the toilet. My daughter ripped the lever off the first time she had this book. It wasn't easy to "press" the lever to flush the toilet either.
Other than that, the book is cute and doesn't have much pages to it. There isn't any actual usefulness of showing the characters using the potty. It seems more like an introduction to the potty.
It shows Bert washing hands, which is good, but if you are looking for a book to teach about using the potty, don't get this book.
My daughter liked to look at the book, and was already familiar with the Sesame Street characters. It didn't help or keep her interest while sitting on the potty.
Book Review: Skimpy Book Summary: 3 Stars
I was disappointed with this book. I think there are better potty training books out there. This is extremely basic.
Book Review: Not so much help Summary: 3 Stars
My son just loves to hear the story and flush the pee pee but that does not help with the potty training.
Book Review: I was disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I guess based on the other reviews and the price, I expected more. This book seems really short to me. It covers the potty habits of 4 of Grover's Sesame Street friends (some of them like to potty - some aren't ready to potty and that's ok - etc.). It just seemed a little brief to me and didn't have much meat to it. My 2 year old son thought it was ok - but he isn't excited about it the way some of the other reviewers' children seemed to be. And I expected more from the flush the potty feature on the last page. It is a paper lever that is really easy to pull off if you have a child who is less than delicate with books (a board book with a flimsy paper pull tab seems contradictory to me...give me something a little sturdier...). I think the book is over priced for what you get (and if you buy it used, make sure the paper flush handle is intact before you buy - because that's really the only feature that makes this book stand out and it probably won't last multiple children).
Book Review: just ok Summary: 2 Stars
not the greatest book for potty training. its cute and my 1 1/2 yr.old twins like the pictures. but it does not really do any show how for the kids. It more or less says lots about thinking to use the potty, having accidents and not wanting to use the potty yet. It has a little toilet on the last page the kids can move the handle down and kinda flush the yellow part of the page moves to white to suggest flushing the pee. no sounds though. I had a flushing sound pee book for my eldest and I think it was more helpful than this one has been so far.
