Book Reviews of Secretariat: The Making Of A ChampionBook Review: A complete synopsis of Secretariat Summary: 5 Stars
a remarkably well researched and well done bio of one of the greatest race horses. No detail was left out in the life of this horse including his background, breeding, owners, jockeys, trainers, and his influence on racing. I read every word with fascination and could hardly wait to get back to it each day. It was particularly appealing for this life long horse lover and owner of a Thoroughbred breeding farm.
Book Review: First hand account Summary: 5 Stars
Nack isn't just reporting on research, he was there, he saw it and he lived it. You can tell that he loved Secretariat like a family member in the "Pure Heart" essay added to the updated edition. Lucien, Tweedy, and the greatest horse ever make for a great story and Nack's inside view of what happened is a priceless addition to the collective writings on the sport of kings.
Book Review: Great insight into the greatest horse Summary: 5 Stars
This book is beautifully written and with outstanding detail about Secretariat's life, and the lives of the humans around him. The journey William Nack takes is both exciting and poignant. You can't go wrong with this book. I absoultely loved it. Any fan of horses or horse racing needs to know about the life of the great Secretariat, and this is the book for that.
Book Review: Awesome! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is every bit as good or better than Seabiscuit. Even if you weren't a "horse person" I would imagine it would still be good. The details of the people surrounding this horse and his life and the descriptions of the horse himself are magnificent. And the story -- it just rolls. The only thing about this book that I can't understand is -- Where's the Index??
Book Review: Secretariat: Making of a Champion Summary: 5 Stars
One of my favorite books. A must read for any fan of Secretariat and horse racing. I especially love the in depth look at the bloodlines of Secretariat.
