Book Reviews of Seasons of the Witch Weekly 2010Book Review: Best "All Around" Datebook Summary: 5 Stars
I have always wanted a different datebook, w****n, but it doesn't give the secular holidays, and all of the other esoteric stuff, so as beautiful as it is, I never pick that datebook. I enjoy the Wi**he's Datebook, from another company, because it has a lot of info, but it is flimsy.
Instead,Seasons of the Witch Weekly is the best of MOST worlds. It comes about as close to perfect as I can find. First the negative (and there's only two that I can think of): It's a bit big and bulky to carry around in a purse that is not "oversized." And, personal preference, I wish the outer cover was a little more subtle. I don't need strange stares at work...
Now the good stuff:
It has monthly tabs to find the date easily (which is a huge improvement over last year's ribbon), and they are "coated" to really stand up to frequent handling.
The pages are sturdy and "toothy" for writing on without smearing...even pen and highlighter(last year it was glossy and smeary).
The cover wears like iron throughout the year, being dragged in and out of a purse.
The secular holidays are clearly printed right along with the pagan holidays.
The phases of the moon are obvious in both the "monthly" format at the beginning of each month, and in the weekly pages.
The yellow waxing of the moon is clearly visible on the monthly pages.
The moon void-of-course is listed, and in each time zone (although I do wish that part would be smaller print).
The sign the moon is moving into is listed.
Mercury retrogrades, and endings of mercury retrogrades are present.
The different moon names are listed monthly and when they change on the weekly pages (bloodlossing, etc.)
Spell casting power days are clearly marked. Lesser, but still powerful energies are also marked.
The seasons "change" throughout the book, which is a great visual reminder of what is happening in the world around me.
There's a 2011 1-page calendar with holidays in the back, to help make plans as things get later in the year.
And there is gorgeous color and esoteric information throughout.
All in all, it is worth the price, and it is the best on the market thus far.
