Book Review: 40K from a great young writer. *Spoilers*
Summary: 5 Stars
I've been quite a bit into 40k for a few years now, so I'm not a lifer like some of you out there. I must say though, out of all the Space Marine books I've read, Salamander and Firedrake both were some of the best reads in my opinion.
The story starts out following two sergeants from the Salamanders 3rd company, Tsu'gan and Dak'ir who seem to have a rivalry of some sort going on related to the death of a beloved captain and because Dak'ir having been born a "Ignean". (A race of people that live under the surface of the Salamander's home world Nocturne)
Well the story gets kicked started by the 3rd company running across a relic that supposedly belonged to Vulkan the Primarch/Father of the Salamanders which had disappeared during the Horus Heresy. The relic ends up being decoded by Chapter Master Tu'Shan and leads the 3rd company to a far off planet where the true action of the book starts.
Nick Kyme does a great job in this book showing us what the Salamanders are all about, as far as their rituals and the way they value all human life, were other chapters look down upon them. The Salamanders are truly the heroic chapter of the Space Marines and this book is very much worth picking up.
