Book Reviews of Running with Scissors: A Memoir

Book Review: An Attention Grabber!
Summary: 5 Stars

While reading this book I was taken aback by certain events that took place, I think to appreciate this book you have to have the type of personality that is easy going and you definitely have to have a warped sense of humor.
I really enjoyed this book, it was funny and appalling at the same time, it keep my attention the entire time. I can't wait to read, "Dry" and "A Wolf at the Table."

Book Review: Hmmmm
Summary: 5 Stars

I started reading this book when I was a junior in high school, and I loved it so much that I actually skipped school one day so I could stay home and finish (I told my mother that my car wasn't running). This book was so powerful: it helped change my life in a deeply personal way. Two years later, "Running with Scissors" remains one of the most important books I have ever read.

Book Review: throughly entertaining
Summary: 5 Stars

I like to read about other peoples lives, especially the unusual ones. This is a story of a boy and his hysterical reaction to his horrific childhood. With such humor and audacity I was glued to the pages waiting for the next bizarre event or shocking visual. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it to others who thinks that their life was f***ed-up!?

Book Review: Horrifying, yet humorous
Summary: 5 Stars

Now we know what would happen if a Jackie Collins novel mated with a Stephen King novel and the story was made into a National Lampoon movie. This is a bizarre story of two dysfunctional families that is very-well written and oddly funny. It's a testament to human resiliance that the author didn't grow up to be a serial killer.

Book Review: entertaining and well written
Summary: 5 Stars

Augusten Burroughs makes me feel relieved to know he's a successful writer. The story of his highly unorthodox childhood is related with the naive clarity of a teenage boy, abandoned by his mother, adopted by her shrink and disengaged from school. It left me wondering about the characters long after I finished the novel.
