Book Reviews of Run for Your Life (Michael Bennett)Book Review: Bennett is Back! Summary: 5 Stars
Patterson and Ledwidge's follow up book to Step on a Crack, Run for Your Life continues with Michael Bennett and his 10 kids. This time, not only is there a killer to catch, the flu bug is running rampant in his house. While some don't like the main character having 10 kids, I like the series. I was in the minority by liking the first one too. Granted, having a perfect nanny who could probably give Mary Poppins a run for her money helps as far as the kids go. On an emotional level, Bennett is also dealing with the loss of his wife and their dreams of raising this family together, and each day for him is a realization of how his life will never be the same.
"The Teacher" as he calls himself has taken on the mission of teaching New Yorkers some lessons in etiquette...with deadly lessons. Bennett has a full time job trying to catch up with him and take care of his home life as well. I look forward to the next one in the series.
Book Review: Pop Fiction Summary: 5 Stars
James Patterson in not going to win any literary awards for Run For Your Life, but he does give the public what it wants. In this case a fun easy to read book that is almost impossible to put down. I somethings think of myself as a Patterson addict as I purchase his new releases on the day they are released.
In Run For Your Life, I see many similarites between his Dective Cross series. I wonder if this means we are nearing the end for Cross? The plot has a few twists and turns and some surprises you did not see coming. The character development is strong which suggests future books!
I dont want to give away the plot and the other reviewers have done a good job setting the table. I would only like to say that I stronly recommend this book and promise you will not be disappointed.
Book Review: Love the Michael Bennett Series Summary: 5 Stars
Alex Cross and Michael Bennett are two fictional characters I look forward to every year. Patterson, and in this case, Patterson and Ledwidge have created a wonderful detective in M.B. Some time ago I wrote how Alex Cross's family was too cutesy and interfered with some of the stories Patterson was telling. Ten years later, I cannot say the same about the Bennett series. This detective's home life makes the story all that more real. The cast of "home" characters including the children are great. Worst Case just got released and I am thoroughly looking forward to sitting down with it as soon as I can to read the further adventures of the Bennett family (and the no-doubt page-turning mystery at hand).
Book Review: Thrilling to the end Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely loved this book. Patterson never disappoints me. It's an exciting ride from the beginning to the end. I enjoyed the humor with the family sick with the flu (as strange as that sounds---TMI at times), Father Seamus and got a real kick out of the Teacher------in spite of the fact that he was the killer. His meticulous planning was interesting to follow. Overall, the characters were well developed and it was impossible not to get caught up in the story.
This was a book that could not be put down---so be prepared if you sit down to read it---you will not get anything else done. But enjoy the moment--it's a great ride. Thrills on every page.
Book Review: "Up yours with a hockey stick." Summary: 5 Stars
What great fun Patterson has given us with a new hero, detective Michael Bennett, his 10 children and their Irish Nanny. A derangned killer is stalking NYC and Bennett is put in charge of finding him while his clan of children all come down with the flu, puking their little guts out all over the apartment. This one had me turning pages right up til the end, and what a great finish. One can't go wrong with James Patterson.. He is just marvelous. You will not be sorry after reading this page turner. New characters need to be continued.
