Rumford came out with a cookbook every few years. I don't know that any one edition is better than the others. I just know that my mother had a Rumford cookbook and it was often used. It's a history of food preparation from by-gone days.
I had fresh pumpkin and wanted my mother's recipe for pie to make for Thanksgiving. Everyone at the table insisted that it was the best pumpkin pie they had ever eaten and I hadn't told them it was made from fresh pumpkin.
Food preparation styles change and reflect where the society is at any period of time. This is a piece of history.
