Book Reviews of Ruffian: Burning from the StartBook Review: Go Ruffian, Go! Summary: 5 Stars
A beautifully told story of a true champion whose heart and will remained strong even when her body failed her. Ruffian was a special horse who mananged to capture the hearts of racing fans and average citizens alike. Her tragic end was truly heartbreaking (get out the Kleenex for the last few chapters). Unfortunately I am not old enough or lucky enough to have seen Ruffian race, but now that I have read about her, I will certainly never forget her!
Book Review: Greatest Horse Story Ever Told! Summary: 5 Stars
I heard absolutely nothing about Ruffian other than the fact she was a great racehorse. Now I feel like I know everyone involved with her, intimately. This book was an emotional rollercoaster of a ride and I will read it many more times. Jane Schwartz captivated me from beginning to end with her wonderful ability to make you feel like your witnessing everything that is taking place. Anyone who appreciates great racehorses has to read this book!!
Book Review: One of a Kind Summary: 5 Stars
This is a fascinating and heart-wrenching story about a phenominal horse. I am amazed at the heart exhibited by some of these animals, and also saddened by the price they pay for their owner's entertainment. What a tragic end to an astounding life. This is my second copy as I loaned my first and never got it back. I share this story with all my horse-loving friends, and will retain it in my library to be re-read over the years.

Book Review: Wonderful Summary: 5 Stars
Of all the books about horses and horse racing I have read this book moved me to tears and sobbing. I've cried reading about many horses and their stories, but this author did something more. She touched me and made me feel what the horse felt. Ruffian had that drive and heart that only a very few horses have. Those greathorses of the '70's.
