Book Review: The gardener loves it

I skimmed and thoroughly enjoyed the book, but gave it as a gift to a friend who teaches in school gardens at the elementary and middle school levels. She says, "Thematically, this is the easiest book to use in implementing a school garden that will appeal to children. I immediately put into use the concept of a "pizza garden" at the middle school where we planted oregano, basil, parsley, thyme, transplanted some tomato plants that are growing out of season, and added a few other miscellaneous herbs. Simply calling it a pizza garden called kids to the dirt with trowels in hand. At the elementary, I'm looking at a circular area that may work in the same way as the pizza garden demonstrated in the book. The drawings are lovely and inspiring. They give one the feel that a "sunflower" house is actually a manageable project that includes lots of whimsy for young minds. Well done."
