Book Reviews of Ronnie: The Autobiography

Book Review: Quite nice
Summary: 4 Stars

First get me right here: as much as I do NOT like the Stones that much, this is a very nice and funny little autobiography by one of its members. He has had a much more interesting career as a member of the Faces and the Jeff Beck group among other things. However the very sympathetic way in which he recounts his past experiences make even the Stoens years interesting (OK, I guess they ARE an important group after all). The book is written with a great deal of wit and he comes over really well in this biography which is not the usual "my groupie and drug hell" kind of bio that everybody seems kind of keen on producing as of late.

Book Review: Fun To Read
Summary: 4 Stars

I enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting to read about his early days, playing with Faces, his solo albums, and with the Rolling Stones. Wood actually sheds more light on the George Harrison/Patti Boyd/Eric Clapton love triangle than Clapton does in his own autobiography.

A relevant companion-book to this would be ALL THE RAGE, the autobiography by fellow Faces bandmate Ian MacLagen.

Book Review: Ronnie: The Autobiography
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been reading rock biographies for the last forty years. This one is unique in that it makes me laugh on a regular basis. I wish there was more on the music. Especially the time he spent with the Faces. They were regulars in Detroit when I was growing up and we never missed them when they came to town. This book could almost be subtitled: The Adventures of Ronnie and Keef!

Book Review: A Real Stone
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a realistic and from the heart look at one band member's history with the group. Written in his own words and style, you will find his perspective very interesting. But don't think you'll get a complete history of the Stones. It's Ronnie's life with the Stones only, but it's a great read and includes insight into several decades of the rock and roll scene.

Book Review: An Enjoyable Read
Summary: 4 Stars

Ronnie takes us all the way through his life. Interesting stories that are well told, funny & insightful. As well as his fellow members in the Stones, you get an idea on the personalities of other rock musicians which Ronnie shares with you & which you will also have a chuckle at. A well told interesting & enjoyable read.
