Book Reviews of Robot Building for Beginners

Book Review: Fantastic book for jumpstarting a new hobby!
Summary: 5 Stars

My 8-year-old son and I worked our way through this book cover to cover, and found real value on every page. It's intent is clearly on guiding the uninitiated through the design and construction of their very first robot. Along the way, it offers tons of really practical advice on how to pick out the right equipment, where to get the components you'll need, what various components do, and how to work with them. When we were done we had a pretty cool little line following robot, but more importantly we understood how it worked, why it worked, and we had the tools and know-how to take the next step toward designing and building our own creations.

Book Review: The definitive beginner's book!
Summary: 5 Stars

As a beginner and someone who has gone through several "beginner" robot building books, I cannot recommend this book enough. Not only does the book give step by step instructions on building a line-following robot, but it will also explain what each part does, why it was picked, where to get it, etc. This will be extremely useful later, when building your own robots. Other books will either assume you know something you don't, or give you step-by-step instructions without the rationale behind them. If you have to get only one book, then Robot Building for Beginners is the one (a cliche, but true nonetheless).

Book Review: Excellent Book, Highly Recommended
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an author who has the beginner in mind. Everything is well explained, no guess work. Pictures and diagrams everywhere. Extremely useful especially if you have low experience in hand work like if you're just out of college. I learns alot about tools, materials, and construction tips that I did not even hear about before. It's not only useful for getting started in robotics but also in electronics. I have an engineering education so I don't know if the author's claim of the information being self contained and no background necessary is right, but in any case, you will get a hell lots of information.

Book Review: Perfection!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an awsome book for anyone wishing to learn robotics.I my self am a junior in high school and looking for an electrical engeeneer majorm, and this book simply blows. It teaches the very basic, that even my sister, age of 1 can understand. The book is one of those you wish to finish as fast as possible, and you get drawn very fast in it. The author does a great job keeping you along, not like some profeesor that assumes you know, this guy knows how to get you t understand. I recomend this book for anyone outthere that is interested in starting in robotics.!

Book Review: Amazing and Easy
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is fantastic. I knew very little about robots and electronics and how to go about building one. The step by step process makes the learning fun and safe.

However, to make the learning smoother, you may wish to skim the book looking for the listings of parts required and get them in one or two trips. Otherwise you are sitting around at 9 o'clock at night, without the required materials for the experiments in the next chapter.

Also, be prepared to spend more than the book says if your Canadian (and I am not referring to exchange rates).
