Book Reviews of RoadworkBook Review: does not work Summary: 2 Stars
this is perhaps my least favorite of SK's horror/thriller. a guy lives where a road is planned. he has to move. his job and marriage gets endangered to, and he decides he wants the roadwork stopped. so he begins taking matters into his own hands. this book doesn't deliver. i got the feeling that the guy was an idiot who deserved what was coming to him, and very little the feeling that the road was to blame. the guy has just sort of given up. i don't feel taht much sympathy for him. i mean: his job is not that great and he endagers it himself, as an example. in the end it all was too little tied up with the roadwork. no great descriptions or psychology either.
Book Review: My least favorite Stephen King novel Summary: 2 Stars
It's hard for me to give any King book less than 4 stars, but this just wasn't my kind of novel. I think he was trying to show us the inner battle inside this troubled character, but it just wasn't something I could get into. I just couldn't wait to hurry up and finish it. It's not poor writing (again, LOVE STEPHEN KING) but I would recommend dozens of his other books before I would recommend this one.
If you're looking for a phenomenal Stephen King novel, I would strongly recommend "IT."
Book Review: Disappointing Summary: 2 Stars
Very well written and one I hadn't read before (thought I'd read all the Bachman books) and I kept waiting for that "Stephen King" thang to happen and it never did. The story was horribly depressing and, IMHO, pointless. If I had known it was going to be just another descent-into-madness story, I would never have bought it. It just lacked SK's magic.
Book Review: This book is slow moving! Summary: 1 Stars
A deranged man, some lsd, some guns, some explosives... sounds like a good book, right? Wrong! This book didn't even get interesting until into the 250's page range, which shouldn't be a problem, right? Well, it wouldn't be if THE FRIGGIN BOOK WAS LONGER THAN 307 PAGES! That's right, it takes over 250 pages for the book to get intersting, but at that point, it's almost over. Around 50 pages of excitement. The rest of the time, it's just some loser who whines about his stupid house being torn down so a highway can be built over it, even though the state gives him $65,000 for a $60,000 house (this was back in '73, when $5,000 extra was still alot of money, btw) And then his hag of a wife dumps him, then he sleeps with some hitch-hiker girl, then he blows himself (and the highway) up with explosives. Then the state rebuilds the highway, anyways. So, this loser achieved nothing. This book is so pointless and boring. I'd give it a 0.25/5 stars if amazon.com would let me!
This book is useless... at 300 pages, it's even too light to be a doorstop! Way to waste trees for no reason, Mr. King! Buy Nighshift, The Deadzone, or Different Seasons instead of this garbage.
Book Review: a really stupid book Summary: 1 Stars
Well, the begining is really boring. But I continued to read. I hoped something interesting would happen, but nothing really did. The whole book is about a guy that is crazy. In the end, he blows himself up, which is the best part because thats when the book stops. If you read this review, I suggest you don't bother wasting your money on this poor excuse of a book.
