Book Reviews of Roadwork

Book Review: Early Stephen King is good Stephen King
Summary: 4 Stars

There are four books inside the Bachman Books; Roadwork is the weakest of the four. That being said, early Stephen King is good Stephen King. It's lean and mean, written with a tone that isn't so much trying to scare you as it is trying to hurt you. And I love that about King. It's the--screw you reader, take it and shut up--that I love about early King. It might not be the best work he has done, but it's still better than 99% of everyone else. If you love early King, read it.

Book Review: Not what I expected, but good nonetheless
Summary: 4 Stars

This early Bachman novel is a far cry from the normal Stephen King novel (but that was part of the point, wasn't it?). It is the story of one man's response to the news that a new freeway is being built through where his house stands. To be short, he doesn't like it; and after a while, he decides to do something about it. I won't say anymore about the story, but this is in many ways a character study. It is not plot driven; a lot of it is just watching him go about his day and what he is thinking and doing. Things happen, but they are not important things. This is much more low-key than the other Bachman books, but still satisfying.

Book Review: READ THIS!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

This was one of the best books i've read in over a year. The british literature stuff was ok but in the book roadwork King had my attention the entire time i was reading. I like everything in the book itself. Examples are the way the author descibes feelings and emotions, you can also picture what is happening as the plot thickens. This was one of the best books i've read and i look forward to reading more books by Stephen King!

Book Review: A Piece of Americana
Summary: 4 Stars

A good read!!! Although this Bachman novel doesn't explain itself very well, I can't help but think that King has hit the nail on the head about '90's America (despite the time in which he wrote it). Anyone frustrated at their job or ticked off at authority knows this feeling all too well. Fortunately most people only read books like this instead of taking the kind of action in it.

Book Review: Solid Psychological book
Summary: 4 Stars

Solid psyche novel on the tortured character of Barton George Dawes as his world crumbles all around him. Enjoy!
