Book Reviews of Roadwork

Book Review: Deserves More Credit
Summary: 5 Stars

This, my 12th King novel, definitly ranks up there in the top 5.
If anyone dares say that Stephen King cannot write serious literature, then he has not read "Roadwork."
While not horror in the vein of Pet Semetary or Salem's Lot, Roadwork focuses on the unthreading of an average middle-class man, who becomes victim to progression. A man who has to relocate his work and home to another side of town because of a highway project, begins acting strange, and slowly loses his grip, and becomes "unplanted."
The character development is so rich that it is scary. Those who are strict adhereers to the horror genre may not get much out of this, but those who enjoy fiction in general, and who have an appreciation for the subtle details which make for a complete literary experience, will want to indulge in this poignant world of anti-progression.

Book Review: I've Got Southern Comfort!!!Who Needs A Job Or A Wife?
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is set during the Oil Embargo of the 1970's. The reader is introduced to yet another one of King's "Beautiful Losers" Bart Dawes. Bart has managed to deliberately get fired from his job at the local laundry and as a consquence has thrown away his mariage as well. The reason for this is that the City is planning to build a road where his house is standing. Instead of selling his house to the City for a grossly overinflated price Bart decides to make a stand and drinks endless bottles of Southern Comfort and blows up roadwork machinery. For some reason King presents all of this in a romantic light. However I fail to see how the self destruction of a man is in any way "romantic".I give this book 5 stars because it didn't get to the Bestseller List until King released the book under his own name.

Book Review: Kings BEST!!
Summary: 5 Stars

First of all I'm 14 not 12 like it says above this review. Second this is an awesome novel.King blows my mind with this book. Its bleak and depressing but man is it an eye opener to society, and the ordinary working man in general. And I for one would not compare this to the movie Falling Down.More like Taxi Driver meets Falling Down.If you want a total mind trip read this while listening to The Doors Greatest Hits, doing this even emphasizes the craziness of the book.I would reccomend this novel to anyone who likes a story with a moral and does not care in what way the moral is presented, and does not offend easily.I think this is Kings best novel and I think he should edge away from the horror genre and do more intelligent books such as this. Anyway hope my review helped

Book Review: A solid king masterpiece.
Summary: 5 Stars

As i've said before, king's earliest are his best. This just so happens to be a richard bachman novel which in some ways is even better then a king novel because with bachman we know where getting a book thats going to jam itself down our throats and roadwork is no exception. To much has already been said and spoiled as i can see so i'll just say that this is grade "A" KING and should not be missed. I was skeptical myself but once again found myself drawn in inescapably. Don't worry about wasting your money, roadwork is worth every bit of your time.

Book Review: INSANE?
Summary: 5 Stars

This novel is slow, but it kind of reminded me of Catcher In The Rye, and I think that's because of the depressed mood the character happens to be in throughout the entire novel. It's actually quite interesting how Stephen King was able to come up with this novel.
The novel is about a man who loses his job, his wife, and ends up losing his sanity, because his entire world has crumbled around him.
Yes, it's a bit depressing, but it still happens to be an entertaining read.
