Book Review: Good book for fans of 1945-1970 era of baseball

Although Richie Ashburn played before my time, I grew up in the 60's and 70's as a NY Mets fan and I heard a lot said about Richie Ashburn and his one Year with the NY Mets: 1962. it intrigued me that he hit .306 in 1962 and then retired. I had heard that he was a team leader on the 62 Mets, the worst baseball club 40-120 in major league history. This book has many never before seen pictures and stories that round out the man who had great quantities of humanity and grace and class.Book Review: Richie Ashburn Remembered

I just finished reading this lovely tribute to Richie Ashburn. I can remember him so well. My Pop used to listen to the Phillies on the radio before there was tv. So I grew up with the Phillies and he was one of the best and most endearing characters ever. Fran did a great job of capturing his great character and personality. He was truly one of a kind. This is a fun book to read that tells the story of Richie Ashburn from his childhood throughout his life. It is full of interesting and funny stories. And there are plenty of photos never seen before with not just fellow baseball players, but his family as well. This really does show the life of Ashburn. The letter from Harry Kalas in the beginning will bring tears to your eyes. Anyone who is a Phille Phan, or an Ashburn "historian" needs to have this book in their collection! I love it!Book Review: Great book!

I read this book and really liked it! I you are a baseball fan or a fan of the Phillies you will probably like it too! The book is a nice mix of baseball stories and his personal life stories. The book is very nicely made.
