Book Reviews of Richard Scarry's Busy, Busy TownBook Review: Richard Scarry is great! Summary: 5 Stars
These books are great! I loved them as a child and now my 2 year old loves them too!
Book Review: A good read... Summary: 4 Stars
Like most books in this series, this book is very informative and interesting for kids to re-read many times over. Each time they re-read, they may see new pictures or comments as each page is filled with extensive detail. Nicely illustrated, and thankfully, not too long as I like to finish reading this to my toddlers in less than 15 minutes.
Book Review: busy, busy town Summary: 4 Stars
a great children's book that my children loved and now my grandchildren love it. Richard Scarry knows how to teach children about their world with a combination of words and illustrations.
Book Review: Great book but wanted the WHOLE book Summary: 4 Stars
I didn't realize from the description that this was the abbridged version, so I was disappointed when it arrived. The content of the book is great...it's just not all there.
Book Review: Rigid Gender Roles Summary: 1 Stars
This book sends a powerful message to little girls about what they can and can't achieve. Unfortunately this book takes no note of the women's movement and all that women have achieved in the last fifty years. Each and every "job" shown in the book upholds rigid gender stereotypes. Every "nurse" is a female animal, every doctor a male animal, every construction worker is represented by a male, every secretary by a female, right down the line without the slightest variation. It's really a pity Mr. Scary doesn't show a bit of enlightenment on these matters.
