Book Reviews of Resurrection PlanetBook Review: Excellent Storytelling with a Classic SciFi Feel, Great Imagery, and Compelling Characters with Horror and Religion in the Mix! Summary: 5 Stars
The adventure begins on the planet Sybaris, with travelers from Earth having just landed there. Cole gets right to it, describing the amazing changes to the surface of the planet due to a rain shower, an ominous figure heading towards the ship, and the unique characters that had been aboard that ship. The main character, Ronald Crisp, comes off as very likeable, but hints at the way he lived his life before also creep in making you feel his desire for what he wants will come to fruition one way or another, and perhaps at any cost. The imagery in this book is amazing, and the description of characters and both their actions and the intent behind them is so rich it drew me in soon after I started reading. I could see faces of the most horrific in the bunch just as Cole described them, in all their horrific glory! The book also contains a taste of religion, too. Anyone who has questioned how space travel and life on other planets might effect religion will enjoy the way this book looks at that. I don't want to give anything away about the story, so everyone just read this book! I highly recommend it. Of course I may be swayed, this being the perfect mix of genres in my opinion, but I am confident that no matter what genre you like, Resurrection Planet is great writing and a gripping storyline that you will enjoy. What Lucas Cole has written is an excellent, classic, science fiction novel with horror and zombies heavily represented. I can't wait for the next book...
Summary of Resurrection PlanetMonsters can come in various forms... On the remote desert planet Sybaris, a research station is under constant siege by savage packs of living corpses known as "deadheads." To make the situation even more hellish, the terrified survivors are under the iron rule of the station manager, a man becoming increasingly psychotic.
Newly assigned to Sybaris is Ronald Crisp, a former Marine logistics officer who specializes in quick-and-dirty solutions to impossible scenarios. Crisp finds himself stranded outside the station by its unstable station manager and has to face the diseased army of ravenous zombies. But Crisp has no peer when it comes to survival, ambition, and the ability to use others to his advantage...no matter who gets hurt.
